"Meditation on the blissful light within brings the mind to stillness" - Yoga Sutras 1.36 This guided meditation is a starting point to invite the Divine Light to arise within you. Allowing the light to arise is something that we intuitively and instinctively know how to do. This is an ongoing practice so the more you practice the more you will connect with this Sacred Light. Remember that the goal is to fill the mind with the experience of the meditation to the level that random thoughts no longer penetrate into our consciousness. Our consciousness, our awareness, our attention should be fully focused on the meditation.

Sit comfortably with your body in symmetry.

You may be sitting in a cross-legged position.

You may have your legs out in front of you.

You may choose to sit with your back against the wall.

Or you may choose to sit on a chair with your feet firmly grounded on the earth.

Place your hands on your knees.

Keep your spine straight.

Close your eyes.

Making sure you can sit in perfect stillness.

Connecting with your breath.

A gentle inhalation,

Exhalation.

Fill your heart with unconditional love.

Sensing unconditional love sitting at the centre of your heart.

With your eyes closed,

Look up between your eyebrows.

Your gaze is inward but your focus is looking outward into the distance.

It feels as though you are actively looking and watching.

Try to make this effortless without strain.

With a feeling of unconditional love and a sense of joyful anticipation,

Invite the divine light to arise.

Allowing the light to arise is something we intuitively and naturally know how to do.

This light is already shining within us.

With unconditional love,

Surrender your control over it.

Quiet your mind.

Let go of all thinking.

If thoughts come up,

Thank them and let them pass like a cloud in the sky.

Then bring your focus back to looking and watching between your eyebrows.

At first you may see only darkness.

Eventually you will begin to see flickering clouds or rays of colour or coloured lights.

These are not imagined.

These are internal perceptions.

If light arises,

Hold it in your attention without trying to control it.

Thank it with unconditional love for arising.

With concentration and over time,

The lights will eventually become a single focus point of light.

It may be a very small intense dot or a fleck of light.

It may be a blue or indigo pearl.

A bright burning ball of white light.

A shimmering star.

Meditating on the divine light.

Realise that you are not separate from the light.

Absorb the light by moving it into the centre of your head.

Draw the light into and around you.

As you dissolve into it and it into you,

Blissfully feel it surrounding and covering your head.

Let this blissful feeling flow over.

Let this blissful feeling flow over you.

Spread this feeling through your entire body.

Keep a feeling of moving forward into the light.

Noticing as it is drawn into you,

You are drawn into it.

Your body and mind feel extremely comfortable.

Remain perfectly still as you meditate on the divine light.

Let this blissful feeling flow over you.

It is now time to end the divine light meditation.

Bring your awareness back to your breath.

Noticing the inhalation and exhalation.

Bringing your awareness back to your body.

Notice yourself seated in the space.

Feeling your body within the room.

And then in your own time you can slowly open your eyes.

Slowly opening your eyes to come back to the room.

And let's close our meditation with namaste.

Namaste.

I have been seeking a meditation that I can repeat daily (for an undetermined period of time) and have found it in this. Something I can use to build and expand my conscious contact.
