So hum meditation.

I am that,

That I am.

So hum meditation is a simple but powerful technique that uses the breath and repetition of a mantra to quieten the mind and relax the body.

So hum meditation is a simple but powerful technique that uses the breath and the repetition of a mantra to quiet the mind and relax the body.

This meditation will help take your awareness from a state of constriction to a state of expanded consciousness.

The yogic mantra So hum is not only a reflection of the sound of the breath but also carries a contemplative meaning.

I am that.

So meaning I am and hum meaning that.

So let's get comfortable now for this meditation.

Choose a place where you will not be disturbed.

You can sit in a comfortable cross-legged position with the back straight and shoulders relaxed.

You may wish to sit on a block or a cushion to raise your hips slightly and to straighten your spine.

You may prefer to sit with your back against the wall and legs straight out in front of you.

Alternatively,

You can sit on a chair with your feet grounded on the floor.

Place your hands in chin mudra with the forefinger and thumb touching.

You can place your palms facing upwards to open your awareness or facing down to calm the mind.

Open your body now and relax any tension.

Let your spine rise from the ground.

The spine is nice and long.

Draw your chin down slightly and let the back of your neck lengthen.

So let's begin.

Close your eyes and for a few moments observe your breath.

Focus on the inhale and the exhale.

Now take a deep slow breath through your nose and silently repeat the word so.

Then exhale through your nose while silently repeating the word hum.

Continue to repeat so on the inhalation and hum on the exhalation.

Allow your breath to flow easily while silently repeating so hum.

Whenever your attention drifts to thoughts in your mind,

Sounds in the environment or sensations in your body,

Gently return to your breath,

Silently repeating so hum.

Feel how your exhalation releases you into the expanse around you.

Feel how your exhalation releases you into the expanse around you.

If a thought arises,

Come back to the simple mantra so hum.

Continue with your meditation.

Just breathe easily and effortlessly without trying too hard.

Now sit with your eyes closed,

Taking a moment to rest in the stillness and silence of your meditation.

Allow the peace and calm to soak into your body.

You will carry a little bit of this peace and calm with you as you move into the activities of your day.

So hum,

I am that,

That I am.

Namaste.

Thanks for bringing me back to my original mantra -So Hum. The simplicity and the power in its repetition that opens the divinity within is worth the daily use. I liked the silence without music to allow for quiet individual meditation.

I find it interesting that when I comment a meditation - what I am really doing is bescribing how I see myself and this is being projected onto the way the meditation is being presented. Namaste ❤️
