In this meditation,
We're going to be cultivating the inner resource,
A felt sense of safety and well-being that is always available to connect with.
To begin with,
Make yourself comfortable in preparation for your meditation.
Come into a comfortable sitting position,
Or if you prefer you can do this meditation lying down.
And support your body in any way that feels good for you.
You might like to take a cushion behind your back,
Or sit onto a cushion or a folded blanket.
And if it feels better for you to lean against the wall,
Lean against the wall or the back of a chair.
Make yourself as comfortable as you possibly can,
So that you won't be distracted by any discomfort in your body as you meditate.
And before you start,
Just look around you at the space you're in to affirm to yourself that you are safe,
And that you can safely close your eyes and meditate without distraction for the next few minutes.
Now close your eyes and bring your awareness to your breath.
Follow the air as it flows in and out of your body.
Watch how the breath moves.
Does it travel more into the chest?
Or more into the abdomen?
Is the breath fast or slow?
Watch the breath exactly as it is.
Observe the natural inhalations and exhalations.
Now picture yourself in an environment where you feel completely safe and secure.
What do you need to feel safe?
Invite in any impressions that bring you a feeling of safety.
You might like to recall a place that you always feel safe to be in.
Or remember a time when you felt very safe and secure.
Or you might like to recall a place that you always feel safe to be in.
Or you might like to imagine an environment that meets all of the conditions that you need to feel safe.
Somewhere peaceful,
Safe,
Comfortable.
See this place arising vividly around you.
And feel into your body.
What do you feel inside your body as this safe place arises around you?
Bring your awareness into the sensations that you feel.
What else can you invite in that makes you feel safe and secure?
Are there any smells that make you feel safe?
Any colors?
Any words or sounds?
Welcome all of the things that contribute to your deep feeling of safety and well-being.
And as each one arrives,
Feel it in your body.
Feel the physical,
Mental,
And spiritual.
Feel it in your body.
Feel the physical sensations that arise with this deep sense of safety and security.
Keep your awareness on the physical sensations.
Feel them vividly as your feeling of safety and well-being intensifies.
This is your inner resource.
It is yours,
And it is always here,
And you can always return to it whenever you need it in your life.
Spend some more time resting with this feeling.
Welcome the physical sensations that you feel with this deep sense of safety and well-being.
For the next few minutes,
Rest here.
Familiarizing yourself with the feeling.
And now gently prepare yourself to end your meditation,
Knowing that you can always recall this feeling of safety and well-being whenever you need to.
Slowly start to make some small movements with your fingers and your toes,
And give yourself a stretch in any way that feels good for you.
When you are ready,
Slowly open your eyes.
