Hello and welcome to this Blue Skies meditation for clearing or making space or softening,
Finding a comfortable position for your body.
This could be seated or it might feel really lovely to lie down.
Perhaps soles of the feet on the earth,
Knees pointing up,
Hands on the low belly.
Wherever you are,
Just making yourself comfortable.
And if it feels good,
Closing the eyes.
We'll take two deep clearing breaths here just to create a bit of space between us and whatever came before this meditation.
Exhale to prepare.
Inhaling deeply through the nose,
Sighing out through the mouth.
And just like that,
In through the nose,
Sighing through the mouth.
Beginning to feel your natural breath here.
Observing a few breaths all the way in and all the way out.
Noticing where your body needs support,
Where the earth is holding you up.
Really feeling all of those points of contact with your chair,
Cushion,
The floor,
Whatever it is.
Staying on these next few exhales,
If you can release just a bit more of your weight,
A bit more of whatever it is you're carrying right now into the earth,
Letting it just melt off of you.
Undering up now in your mind's eye,
A vast,
Beautiful blue sky.
Feeling yourself lying beneath it.
Really taking in the color,
The hue of the sky,
The light,
The expanse of it.
Feeling your body beneath the sky,
Imagining what the terrain might be like around you,
Whether it's grassy or sandy,
Some other set of conditions.
Feeling your body in this environment,
Taking in the sky,
Breathing in this air,
Light falling on your body,
Body melting into earth.
Undering up any additional details of the scene to make it all the more real in your mind.
Any sounds,
Scents,
Any other aspects of the environment.
Really allow yourself to begin breathing in a bit of this blue sky now.
Feeling it as it travels through your nose,
Throat,
Chest,
Belly,
Softening,
Expanding,
Bringing in sky and space.
Noticing in your body and your thoughts and your heart,
There's anything jagged or sticky.
As you welcome in this beautiful,
Vast blue sky of softening,
Seeing if it can soften,
Wear away at like water,
Whatever is jagged or sticky,
Carrying it away bit by bit on that exhale.
Each in-breath welcoming in more space,
More sky,
Each out-breath softening,
Letting the sky,
This river of sky,
Carry away what you don't need right now.
Being with your breath in the sky,
Continuing to take in the vastness,
The beauty of this view,
This cloudless sky before you and to allow yourself to welcome it within.
Where else can you soften?
Where else can you bring in more space?
Taking our last few breaths here,
Breathing in every last drop of the sky,
The space.
Deepest,
Fullest breath of the day now,
Here all the way to your belly,
Through your hips,
Your legs,
Your toes,
Gently releasing,
Thanking yourself for taking this time to reconnect with the sky and the space that is within you.
Gently beginning to wiggle the fingers and the toes,
Opening the eyes.
Thank you so much for meditating with me today.
