Lesson 1

Checking in with Yourself

Meditation can feel difficult when the mind is jumping from one thought to another. In this lesson, we’ll begin by gently directing the “monkey mind” back into the body. You’ll learn a simple check-in practice using physical sensations as an anchor, helping you shift your attention away from constant thinking and towards what is happening right now.

Lesson 2

Breathing Like a Balloon

Why does everyone tell us to “take a deep breath” when we’re stressed? In this lesson, we’ll explore the relationship between breathing and relaxation, followed by a simple, beginner-friendly breathing practice. You’ll learn how to use the breath as a practical tool for settling yourself — whether you have twenty minutes or just a few breaths while waiting for the kettle to boil.

Lesson 3

A Journey Around the Body

Body scanning appears in many meditation and relaxation practices, including yoga nidra — but why is it so effective? In this lesson, we’ll explore how moving your attention systematically around the body can help quieten mental chatter and encourage deeper relaxation. You’ll then be guided through a body scan that you can practise on its own or incorporate into a longer yoga nidra.

Lesson 4

Drift Into Liminal Space with Opposite Senses

Yoga nidra invites us to explore the fascinating space between waking and sleeping. In this lesson, we’ll work with pairs of opposite sensations — a technique also found in hypnotic practices — to draw the mind away from its usual patterns and towards a more dreamlike state. You’ll experience how playing with contrasting sensations can help you soften your attachment to what feels “real” in the moment and drift towards deeper rest.

Lesson 5

Bring it Together and Create your own Deep Rest Practice

Now it’s time to put everything together. We’ll combine the techniques from the previous lessons into a complete deep-rest practice. This practice is deliberately spacious: rather than filling every moment with instructions, I’ll leave room for you to choose the breath, sensations or imagery that work for you. The aim is to give you the confidence to begin creating a yoga nidra practice that feels genuinely your own.

Lesson 7

Bonus content - Pranayama 101

What exactly is pranayama, and is it simply another word for breathwork? In this bonus lesson, we’ll look a little more closely at the yogic practice of working with the breath. I’ll introduce you to a few additional, accessible breathing techniques and explain when you might use them, giving you more tools to explore beyond the course.
