This soothing guided meditation relaxes the body and mind through visualization and a simple body scan. Children visit a peaceful place that brings them joy whilst on their adventure. Welcome to your Magic Mattress Kids Meditation.

Start by getting yourself nice and comfortable in your bed.

If you need to have a wiggle,

Now's the time to do it.

Get all the wiggles out of your body.

I'd like you to line your back.

Make sure you're all tucked in nice and tight.

Maybe you've got a cuddly friend snuggled in next to you.

Once you're comfortable,

Gently close down your eyes as you start to settle into your meditation.

Take a full breath in through your nose.

And a long breath out through your mouth.

Another full breath in.

And a long breath out.

Another breath in.

And this time,

When you breathe out,

Let go of the day that you've had.

With each breath,

Notice how you feel a little heavier.

Let your body sink into the warmth of the bed.

We count backwards and as we do,

You feel yourself relaxing and becoming calm.

Five,

Your body relaxes.

Four,

Your mind lets go of any thoughts it has.

Three,

Your heart opens wide.

Two,

You feel light and joyful.

And one,

You're completely calm and deeply relaxed.

It feels so nice lying here on your bed.

You feel the warmth of your covers.

Your bed holds you safely and securely.

Wiggle your fingers and notice the softness of your bed covers.

These are special bed covers.

Can you see them glowing?

What colour are your bed covers glowing?

Are they blue?

Or purple?

Maybe they're green.

They can glow whatever colour you'd like them to.

As you breathe,

This wonderful glowing colour fills your whole room.

You notice your mattress is now floating on the glowing colour.

Your magic mattress wants to take you on an adventure over the night skies.

Your magic mattress starts off softly and slowly.

Making sure that you feel safe and comfortable.

You float out of the window and into the night.

There's so much to see out here on your magic mattress.

The beautiful moon shines brightly,

Illuminating the sky.

And stars sparkle like diamonds.

You look down and see that you're flying over your house.

Over your school.

Over your town.

Everything looks so small and tiny.

It's like you're looking at a toy world.

As you fly,

You begin to let go of any worries.

Any problems or difficult thoughts seem to just disappear.

You leave them all far behind as you relax and enjoy your magical mattress ride.

Maybe there's a place that you've always wanted to visit.

It could be somewhere that you've been before.

Perhaps it's a place that only exists in your imagination.

Maybe it's a place that you know from a book or a film.

Decide where you want to go and your magic mattress will take you there.

Off you go.

And soon you start to gently descend and then land softly in your special place.

Look around your special place.

Notice what you can see.

Notice what you can hear.

This is a place that makes you very happy.

You can smell something wonderful.

I wonder what it is.

Is it flowers?

Is it the salty air?

Maybe it's chocolate.

Take a few moments now to imagine every single detail of your special place.

Are there people there with you?

Are there any animals or magical creatures?

Enjoy being in this place for a little longer now.

It's such a wonderful,

Peaceful place.

It makes you feel really calm and happy.

It's time for the magic mattress to take you back home.

But know that you can come back and visit your special place whenever you want to by closing your eyes and flying here on your magic mattress.

You fly back now across the night skies.

Back home and back into your bedroom.

As your magic mattress settles back onto your bed,

Notice how nice and relaxed you feel.

Your feet relax and sink gently into your mattress.

Your legs relax and sink gently into your mattress.

Your hips relax and sink gently into your mattress.

Your back,

Belly and chest,

They all relax and they sink gently into your mattress.

Your shoulders relax and sink gently into your mattress.

Your arms and hands relax too and they sink gently into your mattress.

Your neck and head relaxes and gently sinks into your mattress.

Take a moment to notice your mind and your body feeling completely calm,

Peaceful and relaxed.

It's time for you to decide what to do next.

You can drift off to sleep and enjoy a wonderful,

Restful night.

If you'd like to do that,

Go ahead.

You can fall sound asleep now.

If it isn't time to go to sleep,

Start to become aware of your body lying on the bed.

Become aware of any sounds that are around you.

Inside the room and outside the room.

Slowly start to wiggle your fingers.

Slowly start to wiggle your toes.

Have a big stretch.

You may even yawn.

Give yourself a big hug.

Say thank you to yourself for making this time for your meditation.

This time to show kindness towards yourself.

And when you're ready,

You can open your eyes.
