Welcome to your Rainbow Octopus and the Affirmation Reef Meditation.
Find a comfortable position.
You may lie on your back or be seated.
If you are seated,
You can either sit cross legs in easy pose or on your feet in kneeling pose.
You can sit on a cushion or have one behind you if that helps you feel comfortable.
Keeping your back nice and straight,
Place your hands facing upwards ready to receive all the energy around you.
Gently close down your eyes as you start to settle into your meditation.
Just relax all of your body one part at a time starting with your face.
Scrunch up your face as tight as you can and then let it go.
Scrunch your shoulders up to your ears and let them go.
Curl up the fingers in your hands,
Feel all the muscles in your arms switch on and then let it go.
Curl up your toes,
Feel all the muscles in your legs switch on and then let it go.
Feel your belly relax,
Your back relax,
Your whole body is relaxed and still.
Keeping your eyes closed now,
Imagine a garden path with flowers and trees on either side.
As you walk along the pathway you come to five steps.
Going down these steps leads you into feeling calm,
Safe and peaceful.
Going down the first step you feel your whole body relax and feel heavy.
As you walk down the second step you notice your thoughts start to drift away and you feel more relaxed.
The third step sees all your feelings float away and you start to feel light.
The fourth step opens your heart to everything that brings you joy.
And as you step on the fifth and the final step your whole body is soft and warm and deeply relaxed.
Imagine that you're at the most beautiful beach.
This is a special beach like no other,
It's one that you're creating right now.
The warm sun is shining in the clear blue sky.
Gentle waves lap the shore.
It's very calming at your special beach.
You walk onto the warm sand and feel it in between your toes.
Bend down,
Feel the texture of the sand between your fingers.
You can hear little waves as they gently break on the shore.
Listen to the waves as they sizzle and bubble before returning to the ocean.
The ocean looks so inviting.
You walk over to the water's edge.
A gentle wave curls itself around your ankles before going back into the ocean.
It's so nice you decide to take a swim.
Your special beach isn't like a real beach.
Because at this beach you can dive into the ocean and breathe easily in the water without having to use any scuba gear.
As the next wave comes you dive in.
The energising freshness of the water is like a tingle that washes over your body.
Look around,
There's lots of brightly coloured fish.
Can you see the blue ones?
The yellow ones?
The little red ones?
They're all so happy to see you swimming along with them.
You feel light and free,
Swimming effortlessly with the fish.
There's something playful moving and changing as it swims.
This curious creature comes over to say hello.
It's your friendly rainbow octopus.
He wraps his soft tentacles around you and you feel safe and secure in his soothing hug.
Together you swim down to the reef.
You feel so light swimming through the water.
Down and down you swim.
As you go deeper you feel calmer and more relaxed.
As you get closer to the reef you see sea horses and rays and turtles all playing together in harmony.
It's very peaceful on the reef.
There are big beautiful corals.
The rainbow octopus swims over to the red coral and as it does the octopus turns a vivid red.
You feel completely supported by the octopus and say quietly to yourself,
I am safe.
I am safe.
Together you swim on and see an orange finger coral,
Its branches reach out in all directions.
You can bend them into any shape you like.
Go ahead,
Make a shape out of the orange finger coral.
What a wonderful shape you're making.
As you play with the finger coral,
The rainbow octopus turns orange.
You think of all the great ideas you've had at school or when playing with your friends and you say to yourself,
I am creative.
I am creative.
Next you see something glowing and decide to swim towards it.
The shining yellow coral sparkles.
The rainbow octopus turns yellow.
It's not afraid to show its colours and neither are you.
You say to yourself,
I am confident.
I am confident.
You twist and twirl through the water towards the green coral.
A joyful feeling fills your body as you think about all the wonderful people in your life who love you and take care of you.
The rainbow octopus turns to you and smiles and as it does it turns green.
You say to yourself,
I am loved.
I am loved.
As a buzz of activity in the big blue fan coral,
All the fish are chattering away to each other.
As you approach,
The rainbow octopus turns blue.
You feel at ease being yourself and you say,
I am truthful.
I am truthful.
The vibrant indigo coral catches your attention.
You have never seen anything like it before and you want to find out more about it.
It makes you think about all the things that you've learned at school so far this year.
The octopus turns indigo and you say to yourself,
I am learning.
I am learning.
Finally,
You see the soft purple coral.
It connects back to all the other corals on the reef.
The rainbow octopus turns purple and you feel balance and connected to yourself.
You say,
I am peaceful.
I am peaceful.
The rainbow octopus gives you a big hug.
All the colours of the reef fill you with joy and you become all the colours of the reef.
It's time to return to the beach.
You say goodbye to the rainbow octopus and you swim up past the seahorses,
Past the rays,
Past the turtles.
Swim all the way up to the surface of the ocean and back to shore.
You sit on the edge of the ocean,
Watching the waves again.
The peace and tranquility of your special beach fills you with joy.
This is the place that you come back to whenever you like.
All you have to do is close your eyes and imagine it.
It's now time to leave your special beach.
Take one last look around you and notice how peaceful you feel.
You walk to the back of the beach and see the five steps.
You start to walk up them.
Five,
Four,
Three,
Two and one.
As you reach the top of the stairs,
You notice how calm and peaceful you feel.
This lovely feeling fills your whole body and a wave of happiness washes over you.
Very slowly now,
Start to wiggle your fingers.
Very slowly,
Start to wiggle your toes.
Stretch your hands up above your head,
Stretch your legs out long.
Have a big stretch.
Wrap your arms around yourself.
Give yourself a big hug and thank yourself for this special time.
And when you're ready,
You can open your eyes.
Congratulations on completing your Rainbow Octopus and the Affirmation Reef Meditation.
Namaste.
