This is Marusi Price.
Today we'll be going on a guided meditative journey together.
Welcome to this guided imagery practice,
Where we invite you to embark on a journey of self-awareness and inner tranquility.
As you settle into a comfortable position,
Allow your body to find its natural posture.
Whether it's sitting cross-legged on a cushion,
Resting on a chair,
Or lying down.
Find a position that supports your relaxation and encourages a sense of calm.
Take a moment to adjust yourself until you feel completely at ease,
Allowing any tension to dissipate from your body.
Close your eyes if you wish,
Otherwise drop your gaze.
As you bring your attention to your breath,
Let it be your anchor in this present moment.
Take a gentle,
Deep breath in,
Feeling the coolness of the air as it enters your nostrils.
And slowly exhale,
Releasing any lingering stress or worries.
With each breath,
Let yourself sink deeper into a state of rest,
Letting go of any thoughts that may arise,
Allowing them to gently drift away like passing clouds.
Now imagine yourself on a warm summer day.
Sunshine bathes the landscape and a gentle breeze whispers through your hair.
You stand on a quaint wooden jetty beside a river,
Itself sparkling like a thousand diamonds.
More there,
Beckoning you with open arms,
Is a charming barge named Tranquility.
Painted in deep maroon and pastel cream,
The barge boasts elegant oak inlay and a name proudly displayed on its bow.
Flower boxes brimming with colourful blooms adorn the roof and front,
Adding a touch of rustic charm.
Purple lavender,
Orange marigolds,
And the heads of red begonias dance in the breeze.
This is your escape,
Your sanctuary for the weekend.
Paved walkways line the riverbanks,
Inviting you to stroll under the shade of towering oak and elm trees.
Wildflowers paint the ground in vibrant hues,
And the air hums with the chirping of birds.
Cawthorn and hazel bushes offer pockets of fragrant privacy,
Whispering promises of peace and contentment.
You step aboard the Tranquility,
Feel the sturdy wood beneath your feet,
The gentle sway of the barge against the water.
This is your haven,
Your space to unwind and reconnect with yourself.
You settle into a cosy deck chair,
Basking in the warm sun.
Let your gaze drift over the shimmering water,
Its gentle current carrying with it dreams and possibilities.
Your sense of hearing tunes into the rhythm of the river,
The gurgling water,
The rustle of leaves,
The joyous melody of the birds.
Kingfishers flash their vibrant blue and orange feathers,
Tipping and diving for their catch.
Wagtails flit about with charming energy,
Their tiny bodies a blur of black and white.
Moorhens glide gracefully,
Their long legs propelling them through the water with quiet elegance.
Ducks,
Swans and geese add their voices to the chorus,
Their calls echoing off the banks.
You observe them glide serenely on the water,
Their feathers ruffled by the gentle breeze.
Suddenly a flash of white catches your eye.
A beautiful white tern,
Its wings dipped with grey,
Lands on the roof of the barge,
Just in front of you.
It tilts its head,
Curious about this human who he has intruded on its peaceful domain.
A smile spreads across your face.
You feel a surge of delight at this unexpected encounter.
Stepping down into the hull,
You retrieve a bag of dried bread from the galley.
Returning to the deck,
The tern remains,
Its head cocked in anticipation.
It flutters nervously towards the bow,
But as you toss pieces of bread onto the roof,
Its curiosity overcomes its caution.
Slowly it inches closer,
Its sharp eyes fixed on the treats.
Finally its peak is only a foot from your face,
Its delicate feathers brushing against your skin as it snatches a piece of bread.
The moment is magical,
A connection forged between human and nature.
After its feast,
The tern gives one last inquisitive tilt of its head before spreading its wings and soaring off across the river,
Disappearing amongst the tall oak trees.
But you have a feeling this feathered friend may return before your weekend is over,
Seeking another tasty snack and another moment of shared wonder.
With a gentle sigh,
You ease the throttle forward,
The purr of the tranquillity's engine a low rumble that melts into the flow of the river.
The current catches the barge,
Guiding it effortlessly downstream.
The sunlight,
Dappled by the canopy of leaves overhead,
Paints the water in a mosaic of gold and emerald.
You lean back,
Letting the warmth seep into your skin,
The gentle rocking a balm to your soul.
Your gaze drifts to the riverbank,
Where reeds whisper secrets in the breeze and dragonflies blit on iridescent wings.
A flash of silver catches your eye,
A fish.
It darts through the sunlit shallows,
Scales glinting like scattered jewels.
Suddenly,
The water erupts in a miniature explosion as another fish leaps,
Its body momentarily suspended in a graceful arc,
Before disappearing with a splash.
A smile tucks at your lips.
You slow the engine further,
Content to drift alongside these silent companions.
The air is thick with the scent of damp earth and wildflowers,
All the while the rhythmic gurgle of the water creates a soothing lullaby.
You watch,
Mesmerized,
As a shoal of fish weaves its way through the submerged fronts of water lilies,
Their fins flashing like sapphires.
The gentle tack of the current,
The sun-warmed air,
The silent dance of the fish all conspire to lull you into a tranquil daydream.
The worries of the world melt away,
Replaced by the simple joy of being present in this moment,
In this place.
You are one with the river,
Your thoughts flowing as freely as the water itself.
Soon you decide to stop the engine and surrender to the current.
Drifting silently,
You recline in your sun chair,
Sipping a soothing cup of lemon and ginger tea.
The warm sun washes over you,
And the gentle rocking of the barge lulls you into a state of deep relaxation.
You close your eyes and let your imagination take flight.
Your thoughts drift to the vibrant landscape of your dreams,
Not some hazy future wish,
But a tangible,
Detailed vision.
You are able to see your dreams coming true,
Visualize them unfolding in vivid detail,
Hear the sounds,
See the colors,
Feel the emotions that your dreams bring forth.
Paint the picture of that idyllic adventure,
The breathtaking western folding before you.
Feel the exhilaration of pushing your limits,
The deep sense of fulfillment washing over you.
I'll leave you here for a while.
With a content smile,
You open your eyes,
The warmth of your dreams still lingering.
The river continues its gentle flow,
Whispering secrets only it knows.
Suddenly another splash breaks the silence,
A mallard lands beside the barge,
Sending out a network of ripples across the river.
The simple beauty of this natural moment grounds you,
Reminding you of the present.
Take a deep,
Cleansing breath,
And as you exhale,
Release any tension or negativity you may have gathered.
With each breath,
Feel yourself becoming more grounded,
More present,
More connected to yourself and the peaceful world around you.
Imagine the river carrying away any remaining anxieties,
Leaving you feeling light and refreshed.
And now gently bring your awareness back to the present moment.
Wiggle your fingers and toes,
Feeling the awakening sensations in your body.
When you're ready,
Open your eyes if you have them closed.
Remember,
This peaceful haven,
This moment of connection with nature and yourself is always accessible within you.
You can revisit this visualization anytime you need a moment of peace and inspiration.
Gently close your eyes,
Listen to your breath,
And allow the river of dreams to wash over you once again.
And now I'd like you to spare a few minutes and reflect on the following questions.
How did the visualization make you feel?
What thoughts were brought to your awareness when you saw the barge moored on the jetty?
Was there a particular sound that prevailed whilst you were on board the barge?
How would you describe your encounter with the turn?
What brought you a sense of calm while being on the barge?
How did you feel seeing your dreams come true?
Was there a particular scene that was infused with a sense of awe?
Thank you.
And finally,
If you want to expand this practice further,
Here's a prompt for your next journaling session.
Write a letter from your future self to your current self,
Describing all your dreams that have come true.
Use the five senses to create a vivid picture.
Remember to breathe and stay connected to the breathtaking vista you saw while reclining in your sun chair.
