How happy I'm feeling to see these kids squealing on my moist green grass,
Knowing that hours would pass,
Before I'm alone again,
Tuning to the Song of the Wren,
Enjoying this abundance of colours from the beautiful summer flowers.
Yellow and white roses,
Purple digitales,
Orange iranions and oriental lilies fill the air with their lovely scent.
Oh,
Why is that pretty girl bent?
Maybe to dig up some fresh potatoes,
Or pick some zucchini,
Or yummy tomatoes?
Here comes Ramble the black cat,
Begging for a stroke or a sneaky pat.
He suddenly decides to sharpen his claws on one of my newly painted old house doors.
Then Molly the naughty collie dog jumps on that old weathered log.
The colourful hands are clucking in a group to announce the arrival of a new egg in the coop.
You may spot a starling pecking on a berry,
Or perhaps a squirrel stealing a cherry.
Whatever your reason for popping around,
My sounds and smells will not make you frown.
In fact,
I will go as far as to say you'll walk away with a smile today.
