Hi there.
I'm Ed Fox and welcome to this video.
In this video,
I want to.
Share with you.
The steps,
The powerful steps that you can take.
Take control of your life.
Or shall I say take back your control of your life?
It's an interesting point.
What does it mean to take control of your life?
Well,
It means that something's out of control.
And you need to get it back,
Get it in line,
Make it productive.
Whether you be a creative,
Whether you be a businessman.
No matter what you're doing.
Maybe it's just in your personal life.
The point of view.
Is How do I become?
That'll be more productive.
But take back my life in terms of,
This is usually what we talk about at Insight Timer.
Is how do I get my happiness back?
How do I get my comfort back?
How do I get my sense of self back?
You see.
Because there are things in life that we can take control of.
And then there are things in life that are outside of our control,
Right?
We can't control.
Who our president is,
We can't control the weather.
Sometimes we do the best we can and we can't control the outcome of how much money we make.
Or the outcome.
Of our friends.
Or love interest.
There are things that are in our control and there are things that are not.
We can work harder.
Be more efficient.
Control some of the things that are outside of our control.
We can study,
Go back to school.
Um learn more we can change our habits of being friendlier.
Or being more happy.
Or being more attractive.
But it still doesn't guarantee because the world out there is making decisions based on who they are.
So when I,
Considering that,
When I talk about taking back control of your life,
I don't mean that you can control people because that's what happens.
In like in relationships for many of my clients.
A part and we'll say I want my partner to love me more and they'll just do whatever they can to make them love them more.
And sometimes it works,
But usually it doesn't because of that part that doesn't want to love them more.
They just won't.
How can you take back control over something that you're not in control of?
That's the question.
And it asks more questions about,
Well,
What are you talking about?
We're talking about our happiness.
We're talking about our ability to deal with life.
Many of us feel very uncomfortable in these economic times,
In these political times.
How do we make the most of it?
You know,
A quick example of that is,
Do you stay happy?
Or do you let yourself get unhappy?
Do you get excited about what's going on that's outside of your control?
Do we complain about it?
Do we fight it?
Causing more inner turmoil.
Or can we take back control by finding a place within us where we can move and live through it?
Just because something's not going our way.
Doesn't mean That has to be catastrophic for us.
And here we go into the deeper levels of what I'm talking about.
Many times we I'm not happy with things that are outside of our control because we have belief systems.
That say,
If this happens,
I'm in danger.
If this happens,
I won't be able to.
Whatever,
Fall in love,
Make a lot of money.
Be open to who I am,
What I believe in,
What I stand for.
And what we realize is that it's these beliefs that are holding us back.
It's these beliefs that fight with the circumstances.
Not necessarily you.
A pause for a moment.
Can you actually consider stepping away from your beliefs.
And seeing in a very insight timer way.
And saying,
I'm not my beliefs.
I'm an eternal being.
A being that has infinite energy,
Intelligence,
And love.
Something that was given to me by my creator,
However I define my creator.
Because if we can find that and ask that question,
Then It's the difference between.
Being able.
To being in a world that's outside of our control and being able to live with it,
Live in it in calm.
I'm raising some very interesting points because if something controls your income,
Well,
That's pretty important,
Isn't it?
It is.
But if we lose income Yeah,
That hurts.
If we lose our balance.
Positivity.
If we lose all the elements of who we are because we're so angry about what's going on.
Or so.
Of what's going on,
We lose a whole lot more.
Don't we?
Things in the world can come and go.
One time,
You're making some money,
You're in a great job,
Then you get laid off.
But you keep working,
You get another job.
But when we lose our integrity.
When we lose a sense of who we really are.
That you are this calm,
Loving person.
And maybe you need that just for yourself or for your wife or to create an environment for your children.
We need to have that.
And if we have that,
Then we haven't lost ourself.
Which I think is our dearest asset.
Would you agree?
So the idea of taking control of our life is really how do I manage my beliefs?
That differ from what's going on in the world or what's going on in my relationship.
What's going on in my job.
Or what I hear myself say when I want to make more money or I need to make more money.
And I'm not.
Certainly when we lose our integrity and start blaming ourselves and spiraling inward,
We absolutely become less effective.
At accomplishing the tasks that we want in the first place.
And even if it's a lot of it is out of our control.
If you walk into a job and you're happy and you're positive.
You're more likely to get hired than if you walk into an interview and you're angry and argumentative and opinionated.
Not that you would do that or I would do that,
But the idea.
Is sometimes Our beliefs can scare us.
Bumans are afraid of the unknown for so many reasons beyond the scope of this video.
And I should do a video on that.
But the idea is.
How can we stay as calm and connected so that we can continue to do our best.
Among the worst circumstances.
And the way we do that is through.
Finding a methodology.
Go within.
This is one of my biggest.
Topics in all of my videos.
Finding that essence who we are.
That quantum field.
That person.
That's not our mind and body.
That exudes energy intelligence love.
Compassion.
And bring that into the mix.
With what's going on in our life.
A mind,
A wounded mind from traumas,
Past hurts,
Will tell us it's not possible.
I'm not good enough,
I'm not pretty enough.
And this is just a lie.
A lie that the ego gives us.
Because it doesn't want to lose its job.
But if we can manage our beliefs,
Stay calm through meditation,
Yoga Nidra.
Yoga.
Dance.
Breast work.
Kirtan.
There's so many ways to regain our calm.
And when we regain our calm,
Recognize that what we're regaining What we're experiencing is our true nature.
And begin to create a mindset that our true nature is enough.
To keep us.
In our integrity when things get rough.
And are there to serve us with joy and bliss.
So how do we take control of our lives?
Yes.
How do we do it?
Meditation.
Working with the somatized stress within the body.
Letting go of the beliefs we have about ourselves and our life.
And our friends.
And our enemies that may not be true.
You know,
The idea of moving through things that are outside of our control,
That are uncomfortable,
That hurt,
That are painful.
It's part of life.
But I'm always reminded of that unknown Japanese stoic that created the expression that I love so much.
The expression is pain is inevitable.
Oops,
Inevitable.
But suffering is a choice.
What's the difference between pain and suffering?
I'm feeling a pain,
But I see its place.
Versus,
Oh,
I feel this pain and I'm going to die and I'm never going to get better and this is going to affect my whole life.
Here's your cents.
So what can you do right now to take control of your life?
Get into a beautiful program of going within,
Be it meditation.
Yoga,
Whatever it may be.
Acknowledge when you're there that this is the beauty and the essence of who you are.
And then do it regularly.
And then when your mind comes up and says,
You're not enough.
You're not smart enough,
You're not beautiful enough.
Say,
You are lying to me.
This is a belief from a past.
Long ago incident.
Maybe you were young and you were yelled at or you told you were bad or you told that you were ugly.
And we believed it.
And no one ever found that wound in us and healed it for us.
To now still lives,
Carries on in our adult life.
So we need to find these beliefs and call them out.
Recognize when did that happen.
I was seven and this happened with my mom and my dad.
Okay.
Am I seven now?
No.
Why am I still doing this because nothing has replaced this coping mechanism.
For when someone says you're not good enough.
Now,
You're going to replace that coping mechanism with,
I am good enough.
I'm calm.
I release,
I forgive,
I let go of what happened in the past.
Either do that mentally or through yoga nidra.
Do it through the body as well.
And if you let go of those beliefs,
And catch them when they want to come up.
And trigger you.
And keep contacting to your true nature,
Your true source.
Then you will be taking control of your life.
You're in a life for sure.
But you also have the best chance.
When you are in your integrity.
To go out there in the world and make the best life.
No matter what the circumstances may be.
Thank you for joining me.
Look forward to more of these types of videos.
And I'll see you next time.
Take care.
