Welcome to your session today.
My name is Shannon Moyer and I have the honor of leading you through breath work designed with so much love and compassion and intention.
Today we will be nurturing the self.
It's not so much about the counting of the breath,
The inhalation and the exhalation as it is about that intuitive nurturing that we don't often give to ourselves.
When you feel ready,
I invite you to draw into the body.
Listen to it for a moment and consider what you need today.
If lying down is better for you and your body,
How it exists here today,
That's perfectly okay.
If you want to be seated for this session and that feels best and most supportive,
That's okay too.
As you close the windows of your eyes,
I invite you to place your hand wherever you feel you need the nurturing.
Take a moment and consider that.
You are the only one who lives and breathes in that beautiful body of yours.
So listen for a moment.
Where do you need that nurturing touch?
Go ahead and place your hand there.
Taking a gentle breath in and out,
Emptying out anything you brought to class with you today,
Anything that doesn't serve where you need to be going,
How you need to be held.
And on your next inhalation,
I invite you to start to draw your awareness to the contact that your hand makes with your body,
Your palm,
The undersides of your fingers,
The heel of your hand,
Your fingertips,
Your wrist,
And even some of your forearm if that's touching your body.
Breathe into this space of connection.
Here today,
We breathe with the intention of holding ourselves together.
Feelings have been heavy lately.
There is no shortage of grief.
There is no shortage of sadness.
There is no shortage of emotion.
And at times,
It can be overwhelming.
It can be overbearing.
We don't take enough time to breathe into ourselves,
To sink in and nurture ourselves.
But the request for solitude,
For quiet,
And for peace,
It's not unreasonable.
It's okay if you need time alone.
It's okay if you need space.
It's okay if you need to go into seclusion so that you can listen,
So that you can nurture yourself.
Here today,
We make a promise to ourselves to listen,
To breathe into the space of our hand,
And how it so intuitively is placed right where we need that nurturing touch.
You see,
You don't need it from someone else.
You don't need it from someone else.
We live in a world that makes us think that we are reliant on someone else for that nurturing.
But what if it has existed within us this entire time?
Hold and nurture yourself today.
Breathe into that space.
Grow quiet and grow soft.
You don't have to lead today.
You don't have to be in charge or in control.
The only thing you are required to do is meet yourself where you are.
Be honest and truthful about how you feel,
And speak up for what it is that you need.
Taking a few more breaths here,
In and out.
What a beautiful,
Beautiful gift to give to yourself,
To tune in,
To hold,
And to nurture.
One last moment of quiet before opening the windows of your eyes and coming back home into your space.
When you need that reminder of not being in charge,
Of not taking the lead,
Of being quiet and soft and gentle and kind with yourself,
Come back here.
Listen,
Place your hand where it needs to go,
And hold yourself.
