Healing Heartbreak

With Victoria Kelly Yates

Heartbreak doesn't just hurt your heart — it unsettles your body, your thoughts, and your sense of who you are. Healing Heartbreak is a 10-day course built to help you meet all of that directly, one concrete skill at a time. Every single day teaches a new, practical tool — from a technique for calming your body mid-wave of grief, to a practice for grieving the future you'd imagined, not just the person. Each lesson pairs a short teaching with a guided practice you can keep using well beyond these ten days, building toward a steadier relationship with love, and with yourself. Grounded in attachment theory, nervous-system science, and self-connection work, this course offers one real tool a day, without asking you to rush your own healing.

Lesson 1

Name It To Tame It

Maybe you can't even name what you're feeling right now, you just know it's a lot, and it won't stop. That's exactly where day one meets you. You'll learn affect labeling, a simple practice for naming what's moving through your body in the moment, so the wave doesn't feel like it's going to swallow you whole. This is the first, most basic form of self-connection… and it's where all the healing that follows actually begins.

Lesson 2

The Body Remembers

Racing heart. Can't eat, or can't stop. Wide awake at 2 am even though you're exhausted. If your body has been reacting like it's in actual danger, that's because on some level, it is… loss activates your nervous system the same way physical danger does. Today you'll learn the physiological sigh, one of the fastest ways known to calm an activated nervous system, so your body can start to feel safe again, even while your heart is still healing.

Lesson 3

Naming The Story You're Telling Yourself

Your mind won't stop replaying it. The same five minutes, the same story on a loop… "I ruined it," "I'll never find this again," "I should have seen it coming." Those ruminating thoughts feel like facts, but they're not. Today you'll learn cognitive defusion, a simple way to catch the story your mind is telling you and create enough distance to stop believing it automatically.

Lesson 4

Grieving The Future, Not Just The Person

You're not just grieving the person; you're grieving an entire future you'd already started living in your mind… the trip you'd planned, the version of five years from now that isn't happening anymore. That grief is real, even if it feels like you're mourning something that never technically existed. Today's guided visualization helps you name that imagined future, honor what it meant to you, and consciously set it down.

Lesson 5

Your Attachment Style In Heartbreak

Maybe you've checked their socials for the fifth time today. Or maybe you've gone completely quiet and told everyone you're fine, when you're really not. Heartbreak activates your attachment system, and it pulls each of us in different directions — some of us toward contact, some of us toward distance. Today's reflective practice helps you catch your own pattern in real time, with curiosity instead of judgment.

Lesson 6

Self-Soothing Without Self-Abandoning

Most of us were never taught how to actually comfort ourselves. We either tell ourselves to toughen up and get over it, or we fall apart completely… and both leave the part of us that's hurting completely alone. Today you'll learn a short, reusable self-talk script for offering yourself the same steady presence a secure caregiver would, hand on heart, so you're not facing this by yourself anymore.

Lesson 7

Releasing The Need For Closure

That intense need for closure, the explanation you're waiting for, the apology that might never come… I know exactly what that feels like. Today you'll learn a four-step practice: the letter you'll never send- for giving yourself the answer you've been hoping they would give you. Because real closure was never actually theirs to give you in the first place.

Lesson 8

Reclaiming Your Identity

If you don't fully recognize yourself right now, that's not dramatic; it's real. Long relationships blur the line between where you end and where the relationship begins, and when it ends, it can feel like a part of you went missing too. Today's values-reconnection exercise helps you find one piece of yourself that went quiet and take one small, real step back toward it.

Lesson 9

Rebuilding Trust — In Yourself First

How did I not see this coming? Why do I keep picking the wrong people? If your own judgment feels impossible to trust right now, that's one of the quietest, heaviest parts of heartbreak. Today you'll learn a simple, repeatable self-trust practice, built on keeping one small promise to yourself at a time, until the evidence that you can be trusted becomes undeniable.

Lesson 10

A New Relationship With Love

You've made it through nine days of real work. This final day looks forward to the relationship with love, and with yourself, that you actually want to build from here. Through a future-self visualization, you'll set an intention for how you want to show up next, carrying every tool you've built this week with you, not because you're fully healed, but because you're no longer facing any of this alone.
