Return to your inner rhythm. Join Carolyn Anne Budgell for five nights on the shores of Arcachon Bay, on the Atlantic Coast of Southern France, where life unfolds at the pace of the tides. We gather in a private beachfront Villa for restorative yoga, somatic movement, breathwork, reflective inquiry, nourishing meals, and spacious coastal living. This immersion is designed to create the conditions where clarity and renewal arise naturally. Each day includes guided practice, unstructured time for rest and shared meals in community - all held within the steady rhythm of sea and sky. Tucked away on a peaceful curve of the Bassin d’Arcachon, our private villa is a peaceful haven, looking out over the Atlantic Ocean, just 30 minutes west of Bordeaux. This region is beloved for its wide sandy beaches, charming villages, and laid-back coastal energy. While less travelled than the Riviera, the Atlantic side of France holds a natural, raw beauty that is grounding and refreshing. Whether you are seeking clarity, steadiness or a return to a slower cadence, this intimate retreat offers space to soften and listen deeply and reconnect to your own inner rhythm..

The villa itself offers direct access to the beach, comfortable rooms, cozy communal spaces, and elegant simplicity. Picture morning meditations with the sound of the wind, long exhale afternoons under the sun, and evenings of deep rest. The pace of life here encourages you to slow down, to feel your feet in the sand, and to let the ocean breeze clear the mental clutter. Our sanctuary for this retreat, Villa La Tosca, was built in 1903, right on the beach in the village of Taussat, at the heart of the Arcachon Bay. It is a historical example of the seaside architecture that gave the French coastline its unique and characteristic houses, combining stone, brick and wood. At Villa la Tosca, you can enjoy long interludes in our gardens or in the ecological swimming pool, where aquatic plants provide a natural filtration and it's as if you are swimming in a river. You can breathe in and soak up the scents of the sea while taking long walks on the beach or through maritime pine forests. What makes this location so special is that the initial towns around the bay were created to treat patients with respiratory issues, the subtle alliance of water, air, sand, mud and pine trees create a unique ionized air that is nourishing for our body, mind and soul. The strong tides of the bay pull out the water to leave the mud exposed to the elements. It is truly an experience with the rhythms of Nature, with a cleansing and deeply peaceful atmosphere. It’s a place where time stretches, breath deepens, and the outside world fades into the background.

Nourishment is an essential part of the retreat experience, and our cuisine reflects the vibrant, sun-drenched bounty of the South of France. Each day begins with a leisurely brunch, served after the morning yoga session—an abundant spread of seasonal fruits, fresh breads, farm eggs, local cheeses, wholesome grains, and house-made preserves. Expect nourishing bowls, herbal teas, and cold-pressed juices to replenish and energise. As the sun sets, dinner is served—thoughtfully prepared meals that celebrate the region’s culinary heritage with a modern, health-conscious touch. Our chefs work closely with local growers and markets to source the freshest ingredients, creating dishes that are both grounding and uplifting. While some meals include fresh fish and artisan cheeses, plant-based and vegan options are always available and never an afterthought. Every dish is crafted to support well-being, with a balance of flavour, nutrition, and beauty. Whether you gather at the long communal table or find a quiet corner to dine al fresco, meals at the retreat are a time to connect, savour, and simply enjoy.
