Are you living a busy life? Do you suffer from stress and anxiety? Do you struggle with insomnia? Have you ever thought that the solution to your problems could be how you breathe? In this 9-day course, you will undertake a beautiful journey to reconnect with your breath by discovering the meaning of pranayama, its benefits, and its importance for our health and well-being. Through theoretical explanations and breathwork practice, you will understand how to perform the basic pranayama techniques deriving from the Vedic traditions and you will learn how to bring them into your daily routine. This course aims at introducing people to Pranayama, one of the 8 limbs of yoga by providing both theoretical and practical information.
Federica is a certified 300hrs Hatha and Vinyasa yoga teacher and Ayurveda Therapist. She studied Yoga and Ayurveda in India and she has a background as a ballet teacher with a certificate from the Royal Academy of Dance. Lição 1
Prana: The Vital Force
In this first lesson, I will introduce you to the concept of Prana, the vital force that moves all living beings and that is strictly connected to our breath. I will then explain why practicing pranayama is vital to our well-being and how we can use our breath to cure and prevent the most common diseases of our era. Today's practice: Listen and connect with your breath.

Improve & Boost Your Breath: Diaphragmatic Breath
In this second lesson, I will introduce you to the concept of diaphragmatic breath. This pranayama technique allows us to use our full lung capacity and intake a bigger amount of oxygen. Today's practice: diaphragmatic breath or yogic breath.

Detoxify Your Body Through Your Breath: Dirga Pranayama
In today's lesson, I will discuss how pranayama and conscious breath can detoxify and purify our body and mind. I will then introduce you to Dirga Pranayama also known as the 'three parts breath', a beautiful technique that improves lungs function, increase oxygen intake and reduce stress and anxiety thus purifying body and mind. Create Balance Through Breath: Nadi Shodhana Pranayama
In today's lesson, I will introduce you to the concept of 'nadis', energetic channels in our body representing feminine and masculine energies and powers. Through Nadi Shodhana Pranayama, it is possible to bring back to balance such energies in order to prevent diseases, balance the nervous system and live a healthy life. This pranayama technique is also suitable for stress and anxiety relief and deep relaxation. Today's practice: alternate nostrils breath or Nadi Shodhana Pranayama

Follow the Flow: Ujjayi Pranayama
Today's lesson is about entering a state of flow by using your breath. Ujjayi Pranayama is a powerful technique largely used in traditional Hatha yoga to improve lung capacity, deepen the rhythm of breath, and enter a flow state. This pranayama also helps to warm up the body and allows your mind to focus. Today's practice: Ujjayi Pranayama or Victorious breath

The Sound of Breath: Brahmari Pranayama
In this lesson, we will focus on the sound of breath and its connection with music. I will introduce you to a powerful pranayama technique that aims at reproducing the humming sound of a bee. This breathing practice releases the nervous system, calms the mind, lowers blood pressure, improves sleep, and strengthens our voice. Today's practice: Brahmari Pranayama or Humming Bee Breathing

Cooling Your Body and Mind Through Breath: Sheetali & Shitkari Pranayama
In today's lesson, I will introduce you to two cooling pranayama techniques that can be practised to lower the body temperature and cool down the mind (in case of conditions such as anger or stress). These two techniques are best practiced during the hot season or by people living in very warm regions. However, they can be introduced into a regular pranayama practice when used together with ujjayi pranayama and diaphragmatic breath. Today's practice: Sheetali and Shitkari Pranayama

Warm Up Your Body and Mind Through Your Breath: Bhastrika Pranayama
In today's lesson, we will focus on how to warm up your body and mind by using your breath. I will introduce you to Brahmari pranayama, a powerful and more advanced breathing technique that accumulates energy and heat. Brahmari is best to be practiced during the cold season or by people living in very cold areas. However, It can be practiced by everyone when associated with more cooling pranayamas (e.g. sheetali, shitkari, nadi shodhan). This pranayama can be practiced with or without the use of arms. Bring Pranayama into your daily life
In this last lesson, I will briefly sum up the contents discussed in the course. We will then wrap up the course with a practice to deeply connect with the breath and visualize the prana, vital energy, within us. Thanks for undertaking this journey with me!
