A Journey Through The Five Elements With Yin Yoga

With Sarah McDonald

The Five Elements offer a way of understanding the different qualities and rhythms we experience within ourselves and throughout the natural world. Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, each element is connected with a season and carries its own energetic qualities, giving us a different lens through which to approach our practice. Throughout this series, each Elemental Yin Yoga practice brings one of these qualities to the mat through long held poses, mindful breathing and stillness. Rather than simply learning about the elements, you’ll have the opportunity to experience them through your body and notice how a different focus and intention can shift the way a practice feels. Moving through the complete series gives you a broader experience of Yin Yoga and a collection of practices to return to at different times and seasons. Whether you’re seeking grounding, space, release, renewal or simply an opportunity to slow down, the course offers different ways to meet yourself and your practice depending on what you need.

Meet your Teacher

Sarah has spent the past 7 years teaching yoga and exploring the many ways a practice can meet us differently from day to day and season to season. With more than 1,000+ classes taught across Yin, Vinyasa, Restorative Yoga and Meditation, she loves creating practices that offer more than movement alone. Her approach weaves together the physical practice with intentional themes, mindful awareness and yogic teachings, encouraging students to get curious about what they experience on the mat. In this course, she brings that same approach to Elemental Yin Yoga, using the Five Elements as a way to explore different qualities, intentions and experiences within the practice.
