Find a space for yourself where you can be as distraction free for a few moments.
Close your eyes and turn all of your focus to your breath.
Allow your chest to expand with each inhale and fall with each exhale.
Acknowledge where you are today.
In this moment,
Release your jaw,
Remove your tongue from the roof of your mouth,
Settle into stillness.
Bring awareness to your inhale by repeating,
I am aware of my inhale.
Bring awareness to your exhale by repeating,
I am aware of my exhale.
Flow at your own pace.
Let go of any expectations,
Ideas.
Just follow the flow of your breath.
How lucky we are when opportunities to create come into our lives,
Where we are able to connect with a character somewhat different and somewhat the same as ourselves.
As we create,
We offer a bit of ourselves to the art,
To the work,
To the character.
Breathe that in.
Feel your expansion with your inhale and feel your release with your exhale,
Allowing your body to melt a little more into the floor,
Grounding yourself to this moment in time so that you can walk into the next moment grounded,
Connected,
And present.
Creating the work is our only responsibility.
What happens next is out of our control,
But we can focus ourselves by turning our attention to our breath.
I recently watched a video where Brian Cranston gave advice to fellow actors like you and like me.
He said,
Present what you do,
And that really stuck with me.
He says that our job in an audition is not to book a job.
Our job is to show off our creativity,
Our unique creativity.
That's what you get to do today.
Allow your awareness to come back to this space.
Wiggle your fingers and your toes.
Awaken your body and remember to present what you do.
Remember you are enough and remember to breathe.
You can open your eyes whenever you're ready.
Have so much fun creating.
