Start by getting comfortable and closing your eyes.
Turn all of your attention to your breath.
Feel the rise and fall of your belly as the coolness enters through your nose and finds its escape.
When we are going through things in our daily life,
We don't take time to process our emotions.
Our emotions get stored in our body and can become trauma.
Today we're going to do a body scan and I want you to focus on the places where you feel locked energy.
You might find one,
You might find many.
For me this changes day to day,
Season to season.
Continue to feel your breath at whatever pace is comfortable for you.
I want you to turn your focus to the top of your head.
As you breathe,
I want you to feel the breath move down your forehead to between your eyes,
Down to your nose and lips,
Your jaw and chin,
Down to your neck and shoulders.
Just keep breathing.
The neck and shoulders is where most people store tension,
Likely on the vagus nerve which is the longest nerve in your body and connects everything together.
Just breathe to that spot.
If you feel ready,
I want you to move down your arms and your chest,
Past your belly button to your stomach.
If you're able,
Place a hand on your stomach and just breathe.
Breathe into that space,
The place of digestion and the place where I store trauma.
Release it and move to your hips,
Down your thighs,
To your knees and shins,
All the way to your foot,
Your heel,
Down to your little toes and just let your breath come and go.
If there is a place in your body that you wanted to spend more time with,
I want you to go back there and just breathe.
Allow the inhale and exhale to be focused on that spot.
Let any thoughts go.
Just come back to the room that you're in,
This moment and breathe.
Allow the lighter feeling,
The tingling,
The excitement of the connection to your body to come and accept it.
We're going to take a final inhale in through the nose and out through the mouth together.
Inhale all of the nutrients that we need to sustain and exhale everything that does not serve you.
Let your breath return to its natural flow.
When you're ready to continue on with your day,
I want you to find subtle movement in your body.
Like you're dancing and expressing any bit of muscle tension,
You can rock side to side,
Roll your neck from left to right and when you feel ready,
I want you to softly and slowly open your eyes.
Thank you so much for showing up for yourself today.
