Yoga psychology postulates that our mental health challenges and disease are rooted in disconnection and fragmentation. Our detachment leaves us depressed, fatigued, low motivation, poor sleep, chronic pain, medical diagnoses, anxiety, and more. The use of body awareness and attunement along with mindfulness and meditation support a re-connection back to self. Engage in this practice in which you listen to your body. Allow the cues and instructions to awaken you and to your body to move into each supported restorative shape. There is no right or wrong. Use a blanket, bolster, pillow, mat, cushion, etc. to support each shape/posture and open yourself to the sounds - outer sounds, my voice, inner sounds, silence, and solitude. Receive the benefits of deep rest.
