Finding that perfect posture for this perfect day.
Each day is a perfect day.
How's that sound in your mind?
Each day is a perfect day.
There are parts of your mind that go,
Are you crazy?
I have had some hellish days this year.
Had some terrible things happening.
And then I'll answer to that little voice and say,
Well,
Those days were a perfect day to learn.
Those days were a perfect day to push your boundaries.
So I repeat,
Sit there today,
Accepting that today is a perfect day.
Allow your feet to feel grounded.
If you're cross-legged,
Maybe your knees to rest upon the support of earth or pillow.
Allow your seat bone to press the pillows or blanket or floor.
And invite your spine to be long and elegant.
So what does it sound like?
What does it feel like?
The spine is long.
You imagine that your head is kind of guiding the way up through the ceiling.
If you're laying on the ground,
It's like you're guiding your way through the spine being parallel and curvy to the ground.
Like if you were melting yourself on sand.
Letting go of any tension in your shoulder.
Maybe that's easier said than done.
Notice the mind.
How do I let go of the tension in my shoulder?
I live with it.
Maybe visualize a backpack for a little bit.
And in that backpack,
How about you put five things that you found very,
Very hard this year of 2020.
Or in your life.
Five things.
They could be the end of a relationship or the not beginning of a new one.
They could be the change in social construction due to COVID.
It could be the loss of jobs or the loss of loved ones jobs.
It could be illness.
Find five things that have been pulling you down this year and place them neatly in the backpack.
How could you shove them there like dirty laundry?
How could you like really wrap them actually with a paper of color?
Oh,
I'm gonna wrap the end of that relationship in orange color.
And put a little bow on top and then place it in my bag.
Maybe I'm gonna wrap this addiction that I developed during COVID.
This habit that is totally negative for me.
And wrap it maybe in blue or something else,
You know,
Wrap it neatly and put it there.
Maybe you picked up smoking again.
Maybe you picked up drinking again.
Or eating certain foods that you know are just wrong for you.
I doubt you're gonna wrap a zucchini,
You know,
But maybe you can wrap a pile of cake and all the sugars that comes with it.
Maybe you're wrapping a can of beer,
You know,
Whatever it is you find that has been kind of pulling you down this year.
So we talked about habits,
We talked about people,
About jobs.
What about jobs?
What about money?
Yeah,
Maybe you could put down your money issues.
Lack of money,
There are.
Struggle or things like that.
You could put them in a yellow wrapper,
You know.
Put them down there.
And I'll let you guide.
I'll let you a minute here just breathing and finding maybe other things you could put down there in that backpack.
People passing away,
Yeah.
You can wrap them in grey or black.
Social issues,
Mondial issues,
World wide issues.
Overworking,
How about this one?
It's also in the habits,
But overworking,
Overloading your plate.
How about the lack of presence,
The lack of empathy for people around you?
We put them those in purple or something,
Like a bruise,
You know.
So by now,
Maybe your backpack is full and the tension in your shoulder is still there.
Well let's put your backpack on your shoulders,
Really tightly there.
And let's imagine you're going for a walk.
And you're going for a walk on a nice path.
Maybe it's a walk you take weekly or monthly or yearly.
It's a place you've been,
A place you like to go.
And on the path,
On that path you find a tree.
And I invite you to set your backpack there,
Under that tree.
For anyone to see,
Really,
Set it down there.
And notice the lightness on your shoulder.
Stretch your arm in your mind.
Stretch your arm,
Turn your face towards the sun and be like,
Wow,
Huh.
Now that I dropped that backpack there,
I feel so free.
And look at the path and actually just take the path again and walk away.
Walk away from that tree and walk.
