Take a slow breath in through your nose,
A long slow breath out,
Slow breath in,
And a steady breath out.
And imagine you're standing in a quiet woodland,
It's just after sunrise,
The air feels fresh and cool,
Soft golden light filters gently down through the tall trees above you.
The earth beneath your feet feels solid and steady,
And perhaps you hear the subtle rustle of leaves moving in the light breeze.
Birds are singing in the distance.
Take another slow breath in as you breathe in the freshness of this woodland,
And as you breathe out allow your body to settle a little more deeply.
Breathing in,
And breathing out,
And as you begin to slowly walk through the woodland you feel a sense of safety,
And each step that you take you release any stress or tension within your body and mind.
The energy from the woodland cleanses you.
If thoughts about the day begin to appear,
Notice them,
As if they are leaves drifting down from the trees.
You don't need to catch them,
You don't need to follow them,
They can simply fall and settle.
If you wish silently repeat,
Today I will take one step at a time,
I can move at a steady pace,
Today I will take one step at a time,
I can move at a steady pace.
Breathing in,
And breathing out,
You are aware of the quiet strength of the trees around you,
They do not rush,
They steadily grow.
Each step that you take,
Feeling more and more peaceful,
More and more grounded,
Is a clearing,
And as you make your way to the clearing,
There is a wooden bench for you to sit at,
As you sit down you are aware of the solid bench beneath you,
The sun is glowing down upon you,
It's the perfect temperature for you,
And it almost feels as though the sun is cleansing through your body,
Flowing through the head,
To the neck,
Down the arms to the hands and fingers,
Down the torso to the pelvis,
You take a breath in,
And breathe out,
The light from the sun continuing down the legs,
To the ankles,
Feet and toes,
Feeling cleansed and energised,
Begin to allow this image to fade,
Take another breath in,
And as you breathe out,
Beginning to open your eyes.
