Hi there.
A very warm welcome to you.
And thank you so much for choosing to listen.
I'm Mark Rowland.
I'm so glad you're here.
This session is a space to pause just for a few moments and gently reconnect with something that's quite simple but deeply real.
We're going to explore the idea that later isn't promised but not in a heavy or overwhelming way but just as a way of coming back to what is actually important and what matters to you in your life.
There's nothing you need to try to force here.
Just listening,
Noticing and allowing.
There's a phrase that many of us would have heard.
I'll do it later.
Later,
I'll rest.
Later,
I'll reach out.
Later,
I'll say what I've been meaning to say.
Or later,
I'll take care of myself properly.
And,
You know what,
It makes sense.
Life gets busy.
Things don't stop piling up.
We move from one moment to the next,
Trying to do what needs to be done.
But,
Every so often,
Something brings us back to a more basic truth.
The one that,
Later,
Isn't guaranteed.
This isn't something to create fear but to create a reminder that this moment,
This one that you're in right now,
Is real.
And when you let that fact in,
Even just a little bit,
You can allow something to shift.
You might notice the things you keep putting off aren't always the big things.
In fact,
They're often the simple ones.
Resting when you're tired.
Sending that message to someone you care about.
Taking a breath before rushing on.
Letting yourself feel something instead of pushing it aside.
It can be really easy to form a habit of waiting.
Like waiting for the right time.
Waiting for the perfect mood.
Waiting for a clearer space in the future.
But life doesn't really arrange itself like that.
So gently,
Without any pressure,
You might like to begin to wonder what actually matters to me today?
Just in a gentle,
Honest way.
If later wasn't something to rely on,
What would feel worth giving your attention to now?
Don't think of this as having to do more.
Think of it as seeing more clearly.
Because you see,
What matters isn't far away.
It's already here.
Just waiting for a little space.
Now,
If it feels comfortable,
Just allow your body to settle a little more.
You might like to gently close your eyes or soften your gaze.
And begin by noticing your breath.
No need to change it,
Just noticing the natural rhythm.
As it moves in and out.
Allowing the breath to be something to return to.
Not to control,
But to anchor.
And as you sit here,
Just becoming aware of that fact.
That this moment is here.
And there's nothing you need to add to it.
Nothing you need to take away.
Just stay in with that now for a few breaths.
And as you sit here,
Just noticing how quickly the mind moves toward what's next.
Plans,
Things to do,
People waiting for you later.
You don't need to push that away,
Just recognise it.
This movement toward later is something the mind does all the time.
For the moment,
Just letting yourself step out of that habit.
Not trying to follow the next thing.
Not going too far ahead.
Just staying here.
Feeling your breath again.
The body sitting.
Supported,
Held by whatever is beneath you.
And from this place,
Gently bringing to mind something small that maybe you've been putting off.
Nothing overwhelming though,
Just something real and familiar.
Allowing it to come clearly into view.
And seeing it as it is.
Noticing any reaction in your body.
Tension,
Resistance,
Or even a sense of,
I'll deal with that later.
Just observing that honestly.
No need to change it.
Just be curious to see how it sits within you.
And now gently widening your awareness again.
Back to the body.
Back to your breath.
Back to where you actually are.
Right here.
And recognising this is the place where anything in your life is ever lived.
Not in the idea of later,
But here.
Now.
In moments like this.
So for a few breaths,
Just letting yourself stay.
Nothing to prepare,
Nothing to get to next.
Just breathing and being here.
If you find the mind moving,
That's fine.
Just simply notice it and return gently.
Again and again.
Back to this moment.
Letting that be enough for now.
Slowly bring some movement to your body now.
Wiggling your fingers and toes maybe.
Giving a little stretch if that feels comfortable.
And in your own time,
When you are ready,
Slowly open your eyes or lift your gaze.
Thank you so much for practising with me today.
I'm truly grateful that you're here.
Have a beautiful rest of your day.
Go in peace.
Namaste.
