The Overthinking Reset: Calm Worry And Racing Thoughts

With Mark Rowland

Do you replay conversations, worry about what might happen, or find that your thoughts seem to become even louder when you finally get into bed? The Overthinking Reset is a practical and compassionate course for anyone who struggles with worry, racing thoughts, mental overload or difficulty switching off at night. Throughout the course, you’ll learn simple ways to recognise when overthinking has taken hold, interrupt repetitive thought patterns, ground yourself when worry begins to spiral and settle a nervous system that feels wired or overwhelmed. We’ll also explore why uncertainty can keep the mind searching for answers long after thinking has stopped being useful, and practise ways of allowing unresolved thoughts to remain unresolved without feeling compelled to keep working them out. Sleep will form an important part of the course too. You’ll learn practical techniques for those nights when your body is tired but your mind is still busy, helping you step away from mental problem-solving and create a calmer transition towards rest. Through guided meditation, grounding, gentle breathwork and nervous-system practices, each lesson gives you a skill you can use both during meditation and in everyday life. No previous meditation experience is needed. The Overthinking Reset is designed for busy minds and offers a supportive way to spend less time caught inside your thoughts, feel calmer during the day, and find greater ease when it is time to sleep. That feels much more faithful to what we’re actually going to build.

Lesson 1

When Thinking Stops Helping

Overthinking often begins as an attempt to solve a problem, prepare for what might happen, or make sense of the past. In this first session, you’ll learn how to recognise when useful thinking has turned into a repetitive mental loop, and practise stepping out of that loop without fighting your thoughts. You’ll also explore a simple question that can help you decide whether a thought needs action or whether it can be left alone for now.

Lesson 2

When Worry Pulls You Into The Future

Worry can make an imagined future feel as immediate as the present moment. In this session, you’ll learn how to separate what you genuinely know from what your mind is predicting, and practise returning your attention to the reality in front of you. A simple questioning technique will help you recognise when practical action is needed and when worry is simply asking you to solve a future that hasn’t happened yet.

Lesson 3

When Your Nervous System Feels Wired

Overthinking isn’t only experienced in the mind. Worry can leave the body tense, alert, and unable to settle, which in turn can keep thoughts moving. In this session, you’ll explore a simple body-first approach using physical support, releasing unnecessary tension and a gently slower exhale to help reduce that sense of being constantly switched on.

Lesson 4

Making Room For Uncertainty

Uncertainty can keep an overthinking mind searching for an answer long after there is anything useful to discover. In this session, you’ll practise allowing a question to remain unanswered without immediately checking, seeking reassurance, or mentally working through every possibility. You’ll explore how becoming more comfortable with “I don’t know yet” can reduce the urgency that keeps overthinking going.

Lesson 5

Stop Rehearsing What Hasn’t Happened

Overthinking can turn future situations into detailed mental rehearsals, with conversations, responses and worst-case endings playing out repeatedly before anything has actually happened. In this session, you’ll learn to recognise when useful preparation has become repetition and practise stepping out of the imagined scene before your mind carries you through it again.

Lesson 6

When Your Mind Won’t Switch Off For Sleep

Bedtime can become one of the busiest times for an overthinking mind, especially when the pressure to fall asleep creates another problem to solve. In this session, you’ll learn a simple cognitive-shuffling practice using neutral, unrelated images to interrupt repetitive thinking and give the mind somewhere gentler to rest as you prepare for sleep.

Lesson 7

Where You Place Your Attention

A busy mind can make it feel as though every thought deserves your full attention. In this final session, you’ll explore a different approach: learning to deliberately choose where your awareness rests. Through a simple guided practice, you’ll discover how moving attention back into your body, surroundings, and present experience can create space around thoughts without needing to force them away.
