Good morning,
You made it,
You're meditating.
Whether you're sitting up in your bed or you've made it to your cushion,
Congratulations,
You did the hardest part.
So let those shoulders drop,
Unclench your jaw,
Distribute the weight evenly left and right,
And begin to settle your attention on your breath.
Your breath doesn't need to be in any particular way,
Just begin to gently follow one breath in,
One breath out at a time.
Congratulations on taking this moment for you before the day gets busy,
Before you start to handle whatever it is that's on your plate.
Right here,
Right now,
All that matters is this moment of stillness,
One breath in.
When the mind wanders away to the to-do list,
To the plans,
Possibly to the eagerness of getting the day started,
Remind yourself it'll be there shortly.
Right here,
Right now,
All you have to do is breathe and be.
The shoulders have their way of working themselves up towards the ears,
So if that's happened for you,
Soften again.
As you breathe,
Imagine the body just melting into the support of the bed.
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Let it be.
When the anticipation of the day arrives in your consciousness,
Acknowledge it,
Breathe into any response you feel in your body,
Breathe out,
And remind yourself you've got plenty of time,
A full day ahead.
Allow yourself to just rest in this moment,
Let it be.
Before we end the meditation,
A simple breath practice to set you up for success for the day ahead,
A practice that you can return to any time you want to access the stillness that you started your day with.
Simply breathe in a little more deeply into the lower abdomen,
Feel that breath expand also in the lower back,
Track the breath all the way up to the collarbones,
And at the top of the breath,
See if you can sip in just a little more air,
Hold it,
Exhale slowly,
And do this two more times on your own.
Return the rhythm of your breath to its natural cadence.
Open the eyes,
Wiggle fingers and toes.
You're ready to move on to the rest of your day with a little more stillness,
Taking it with you whenever you need to remind yourself that this practice is here for you when you need it.
Be well and have a beautiful day.
