Good evening,
My sleepy friend,
And welcome back to the Grounded Sleep Podcast.
And tonight,
We are going to fall asleep like a rock,
Still heavy,
Solid,
And at rest.
So I want you to get into bed,
Make sure your teeth are brushed,
Your hair is combed,
If you have any,
Your PJs are on.
And whatever it is that you need to do to be fully ready to fall asleep,
No scrolling on the phone,
Make sure the lights are off and you've created a sanctuary for yourself to let go and be at rest.
Sometimes in life we're in motion,
We're in action,
We're in movement,
And other times we're at rest.
And tonight,
Let's get some really good rest,
Not just any rest,
But good rest.
So with your eyes closed,
With your shoulders relaxed,
With the palms of your hands at rest,
And with your breathing cadence nice and deep,
Nice and slow,
Let yourself start to go off into a deep sleep as we begin this journey on sleeping like a rock.
And I'd like you to begin by just imagining yourself as a rock.
You're no longer a person,
You're a big stone sitting in a very secure spot somewhere on the side of a mountain,
And you're a large rock.
You've got weight,
And it would take a lot to move you.
Notice the consciousness of a rock.
It's still,
It's patient,
It's silent,
It has nowhere to go,
And it evolves very,
Very slowly.
And as a rock,
You're very good at enduring weather,
Enduring the elements.
As everything moves and changes around you,
You remain still,
And you're so connected to Earth.
You are an expression of the ground,
And you're also very,
Very old,
Millions of years old.
You've witnessed countless sunrises and sunsets,
Changes in the trees and the environment.
Animals have come and gone.
Water has washed over you many times and polished you.
Time itself has washed over you like a river.
You are the embodiment of one of the most patient forms of evolution.
And inside you,
You keep many secrets,
Many experiences.
You watch the seasons and the cycles change countless times,
Countless times.
Notice that feeling of there is nowhere to go.
Feel your own heaviness.
Feel that gravity that keeps you stable and in place.
As you begin to drift off into sleep as a rock,
There is just a very,
Almost tiny,
Imperceptible sense of time.
You know it on the periphery,
But it has little meaning.
You are a fundamental part of the nature of this planet.
And you have a divine wisdom in you.
In a sense,
You're always in a kind of peaceful hibernation.
Just allow yourself to sleep like a rock,
Patient,
Steady,
And still.
And feel yourself embrace the earth beneath you.
You can feel the vastness of the planet,
The entire crust of the earth,
Wrapping around the earth.
The rock that makes mountains,
That forms under oceans,
That becomes the bedrock of forests,
Lives under deserts and beaches.
It is the foundation and formation of the tectonic plates and all the land masses on this beautiful planet.
And you are one expression,
One manifestation of this earth.
And notice there's no effort,
There's no struggle,
There's no thinking.
When you drop a rock into water,
It sinks gently to the bottom.
Allow yourself to sink.
Allow gravity to pull you down into sleep.
Let yourself drift off into the stillness of the night.
And sleep like a rock.
Let yourself sleep like you're gonna sleep for thousands of years.
And I'll see you on the other side.
