
Deep Relaxation For Sleep

Transcript
Welcome to this meditation called Deep Relaxation for Sleep.
And if you're listening to this meditation in the morning,
Then that's kind of weird.
Wait until tonight.
And if you are listening to this meditation,
You should be ready for bed,
And you should be in bed.
You can close your eyes and just start to relax your space.
Take some really soft,
Deep breaths into your body.
Just start to show your body and tell your body that it's time to shut down.
It's time to turn off.
We all enjoy being turned on.
And sometimes we need to be turned off.
We spend most of our day overusing our brains.
We think,
Think,
And overthink,
Analyze,
And overanalyze.
Many of us talk too much throughout the day.
We are serial communicators.
And some of us overuse our bodies if we do physical labor,
Play sports.
Often we push our bodies too hard.
And then sometimes we find we've had a very emotional day and we're just drained from all of our emotions.
So you might notice right now with your eyes closed if there's one place in your life today where you overextended yourself.
Body,
Mind,
Or emotions.
And that's okay.
Just start to be aware of it.
And often we think that we should go to sleep unconscious.
But the more awareness you can go to sleep with,
The better off you'll be throughout the night.
So be aware of what,
In a sense,
Made you feel tired today or something that made you overuse your energy.
And what I would like you to do above your head is just imagine a beautiful golden ball of light.
And this golden ball of light is just nothing but your own energy,
Your attention.
Now some of your energy and attention is in that golden ball of light,
But some of it is out there,
Out earlier in the day,
At work,
In relationships,
Off creating,
Thinking.
Notice where some of your energy is,
Where you overextended yourself today.
And what I'd like you to do is imagine golden rays of light shining into that golden ball that is your energy and start to call yourself back into that golden ball of light from wherever you notice you went.
You might notice a lot of your energy is in your technology,
In your computer,
In your phone,
With family members,
Friends,
Children,
Co-workers.
Remember some of your attention went,
Just notice.
Often we spend our energy trying to solve problems for ourselves,
For others.
Did you spend part of your day trying to solve a problem or trying to plan for the future?
Call your energy back into that golden ball of light.
And as you do,
Notice that golden ball of light actually grows,
It gets bigger.
And be aware,
Have you called 20% of your energy back from the day?
40?
70?
How much of you is still out there trying to reconcile what happened?
And continue to call yourself back without any judgment,
Without any skepticism,
Without any effort.
It's easy.
And let that golden sun get really big and bright as it fills in with your energy.
Sometimes we leave our energy out there almost like little breadcrumbs.
We leave a trail of our attention throughout the day.
There's a pile there at work.
There's a pile there on the internet,
A little bit at the store.
Some in that relationship over there and some trying to fix my friend's relationship over there.
As human beings we're solving problem machines.
We gravitate towards trying to solve things.
But as you're going to sleep and you're coming back to yourself,
In a sense you're doing the opposite,
You're not trying to solve anything.
You can leave thoughts unfinished,
Concepts unattended to,
Ideas open-ended.
And just call yourself back.
As that golden sun gets really big and bright,
As you start to notice it fill in,
Fill up,
You're going to bring it down into your body.
So you can almost with your psychic finger poke a hole in the bottom of it.
Let that golden ball of light just start to pour that energy into the top of your head.
Let that golden energy just start to warmly and slowly pour into your brain.
Let it fill in your scalp,
Your skin on your head.
Let it pour down through your forehead,
Into your eyebrows,
Into your eyes,
Into your nose,
Into your cheekbones,
Into your teeth,
Into your lips.
Let it fill in your jaw,
In your ears,
The back of your head.
This is all your attention and energy from the day.
It's just coming back into your body.
And as it comes back into your body through your head,
It starts to fill in your throat.
That golden light starts to pour down into your neck.
Our throat is where we use all our communication energy,
All our talking.
If you used your voice a lot today,
You could replenish that space.
If anyone's been a pain in the neck,
They could dissolve.
Let that gold energy start to pour down into your shoulders.
Let it pour down your arms,
All the way down to your elbows,
Down into your wrists.
Into your hands and your fingers.
Let that gold pour into the tips of your fingers,
Into the nails.
Until your entire arms are filled with gold.
And everywhere this gold touches,
You rest.
Everywhere this gold touches,
You relax.
Your muscles start to slowly relax into sleep.
Your muscles can go to sleep before your brain.
So even if you're still awake,
Your body can start to go to sleep.
And allow that gold to pour down from your throat into your chest and your upper back.
And let it start to fill in the trunk of your body.
Maybe more and more gold just pours down through the top of your head and starts to fill you in.
Down into your abdomen and your mid-back.
All of our nerve endings come together in our stomachs.
As that gold pours into your stomach,
Let it relax your nerves.
Let that gold fill your stomach in.
We have a physical stomach that needs food and we have an energetic stomach that needs energy.
Let that gold just pour into your energetic stomach.
And your mind may wander and just bring it back.
Allow that gold to pour down into your waist,
Into your hips.
Let it cross from your upper body into your lower body.
Let that gold start to pour down into your legs,
Through your thighs,
Through your quads.
Our legs walk us around all day.
They do so much work and they ask for nothing.
Right now give your legs gold.
Give your legs energy.
Give your legs space to rest.
And thank them for carrying you almost like a chariot.
And let that gold pour down all the way into your knees and fill in your knees with energy.
And if you start to analyze or think,
Overthink,
Just come back to seeing.
You don't have to do anything but watch.
Let that gold pour down through your calves,
All the way into your ankles.
Make sure you're breathing.
Let your entire body breathe.
Go deeper.
Start to allow your body to sleep.
And let that gold pour down into your feet.
Let it fill your feet in,
All the way to your toes.
And just start to feel what it's like to have your entire body filled in with energy.
Calming soothing gold.
And allow your body just to turn off and to start to melt into sleep.
Allow that gold energy to fill in the space around your body,
Almost like it pours out of you and creates a nice,
Safe golden bubble around your body.
Below your feet and above your head.
Just like going to sleep in a cocoon,
Inside of a shell,
In a safe,
Comfortable environment.
When we go to sleep,
We go to a place that doesn't require our bodies,
It doesn't require our thinking minds.
We go to a place where we're free,
Where we can rest,
Where we can be.
Just be.
There is a stillness in sleep.
Have that.
Feel it.
Think into it.
Have a wonderful sleep.
Have amazing dreams.
And rest.

Love this Davidβs relaxing voice and the sound of his music puts me in a better place to start to relax . He has a great sense of humor thatβs very important in these restless moments to calm the mind and get a sense of peace to begin to feel calm.

I listened to this last year after my dad's brain surgery and I felt very alone and tired. I felt less alone and I was able to allow myself to recognize how stressed I had been and all the places my energy went that day. I listened to it again today, on a much better day. Thank you for your work.

this meditation calmed and quieted all the business in my brain. I especially loved gathering, retrieving all my energy from people places and things from my day. i visualized the gadget Ron Weasley had in Harry Potter ( a gift from Dumbledore πͺ) It would gather and hold all the nearby light. π― it wasnβt long enough for me to fall asleep to, but is a perfect lead in to my favorite bedtime music tracks in IT. thank you π―π―π―
