So let's shift our consciousness.
Go ahead and close your eyes.
And just,
I always like to ask my students just to lower their shoulders away from their ears.
So go ahead and just do that a little bit here.
Just drop your shoulders.
Ease up the backs of your knees,
The palms of your hands,
The bottom of your feet,
Your jaw.
Really allow yourself to chill.
Just relax.
You made it to 2021.
You're here.
All is well.
It's the beginning of a new cycle and the ending of an old one.
This is not your first time going around the sun.
And you can celebrate this time around the sun.
That's really what life is about.
It's about celebrating.
So celebrate yourself for a moment.
Appreciate your physical body.
Being here on this planet with this beautiful group of people meditating.
I mean,
You could be in a coal mine working somewhere or,
You know,
A lot of places.
So have some appreciation for where you are on your path.
Take a few deep breaths in.
Fill your belly in with some air.
Ease up any tension.
Ease up your nerve endings.
I want you to get a deep sense.
It's already inside you.
That you've already made it.
You've gone through being born and through adolescence and through puberty.
You know,
You've already made it.
Probably the worst things that are ever going to happen to you.
Most of them have already happened.
And there's this beautiful saying,
Good judgment comes from experience and experience comes from bad judgment.
That's called growing up and being a human being.
And enlightenment is when we stop being anxious about imperfection.
I'll say that one more time.
Enlightenment is when we stop being anxious about imperfection.
See if you can experience that in your own body.
See if you can experience that in your breath.
So in meditation,
We always want to start by recognizing the calmness that's already inside of us.
It's already here.
It's not something that you have to achieve.
It's not something you have to deserve.
It's not something a guru gives you by touching your third eye.
It's already inside you.
And you're just becoming aware of it.
It's your nature as a being.
You're a human being.
So you're human in your being.
And being is just being aware that you're conscious and that there's this beautiful inner peace that comes with that.
And we're going to take a step deeper here.
What I'd like you to do right now is take a moment and find one pattern in your life that you would really like to shift in this new year.
Any pattern that you've been struggling with that you feel like has been holding you back in some way.
Could be in regards to relationships or exercise or eating,
The way you think.
The relationship with money,
Anything,
But I want you to allow it to arise out of your being in a natural way.
Perhaps you see it in your mind's eye.
And I want you to get a sense as you start to recognize whatever this pattern is.
What the energy underneath it is.
Why do you keep it up?
What is it that you're trying to fulfill or get out of it?
You don't do it for no reason.
So what is it you're trying to get out of this pattern?
I want you to find one word,
One word that represents an energy.
It could be something like connection,
Love,
Feeling good.
All right,
It could be two words.
But I want you to find what it is that you're working on getting out of this pattern.
And if you start to feel uncomfortable or squirm or your mind starts to wander,
That means you're onto something.
I want you to sit still and stay with it.
And I want you to ask yourself,
What would I look like if I was able to break this pattern and find this energy in a healthy way?
What would my experience be?
How would I look different?
I want you to feel it.
Just feel that difference in your body.
That's all I'm asking you to do.
Just notice what you've been doing.
Notice what you're trying to get out of doing that and notice how you feel differently.
When you shift it.
Is there another way you can get fulfilled rather than this pattern?
And see if you could just start to make a commitment to yourself.
That you're going to start to break this pattern in a conscious,
Self loving,
Self affirming way.
From the inside out.
And if you need help from the outside in,
Great.
Can you bring in some acceptance around this rather than judgment or trying to fight it?
I want you to take a nice,
Big,
Deep breath in.
Make sure you're breathing.
Easy sigh out.
You could take whatever you're looking at or working on and just you could put it into a rose and just kind of plant it out in front of you.
A bit on the side.
We're going to do a few more.
It's almost like you just place this energy into a rose and just put it down.
You don't have to fully solve this right now.
It's really about just becoming aware of what the pattern is.
What you would look like on the other side.
How your energy and life would be different.
So this is one area in your life.
So we could put this one down on the side for now.
I know you could sit with this one for an hour,
But it's OK.
Just put it down.
And the next one I want you to look at is,
Is there a person in your life that kind of only brings mostly negativity?
And it's not really serving you or your path.
Maybe you've been afraid to have a boundary with or cut ties with or just recognize the negativity in the situation.
Might just be a recognition of the energy.
We're not blaming this person,
We're just recognizing the energy.
So one person in your life,
You're like,
You know what,
This relationship isn't serving me the way it is.
And I don't want you to call them later and say,
David said you're bad.
If you if you went too deep and got too intense with this,
Just have a light smile on your face.
It's all good.
All of this is here to serve you growth.
Nobody's bad and nobody's good.
It's now that's not what we're doing.
We're just asking what is serving my path and my energy and what isn't.
And can I start to shift this?
And how would you look differently in your life if you shifted this relationship dynamic?
How would you look differently?
What would be different about your energy?
I want you to start to recognize that and feel it in your body.
Let yourself actually feel it.
You might might be like,
Wow,
I have better boundaries.
I say what I feel.
I know how to say no.
I don't absorb somebody else's pain.
I don't take on their limiting beliefs.
What is it for you?
And can you make a commitment right now at the beginning of this year?
That you are going to start shifting this dynamic.
Even if it makes you nervous or afraid or.
You tense up.
You're still going to do it.
Why?
Because your growth is more important.
I want you to take this one.
I want you to put it in a rose,
Plant it out.
On the side in front of you.
We're going to do one more.
And so for this third one,
I want you to allow one thing in your life to arise that you have been afraid of.
Something that makes you afraid that,
You know,
Deep inside you need to get over to grow.
Maybe you're afraid of being seen,
Afraid of being loved,
Afraid of creating,
Afraid of investing.
Afraid of failing.
Afraid of success.
What is it for you?
That this year you're ready to really look at.
And overcome your fear.
And the thing about overcoming something we're afraid of is when we go to overcome it,
We feel the fear.
It's OK to feel the fear.
If you didn't feel any,
I would think you would probably be a psychopath.
You should feel some fear.
You're a human being.
Here we are.
Imperfect.
We have expiration dates.
Smile.
It's OK.
It probably means you're on the right path.
There's a challenge for you here.
Life is calling you.
But it's entirely up to you if you're going to rise to the occasion.
So what is it that you've been afraid of that you've been avoiding that you are ready to look at and work through?
See if you can start to take that step.
The first and most important step is acknowledgment.
The second step is to give ourselves permission.
Can you give yourself permission to overcome this,
Even if it upsets other people in your life or makes you feel like you're taking a risk?
And then I want you to get a sense of what you look like on the other side when you pass through this initiation of fear.
How is your life different?
What's your energy like?
What do you look like?
Do you talk different?
Do you walk differently?
I want you to start to feel that energy shifting in your body.
Just because you didn't accomplish something or get through something before doesn't mean you won't now.
The past is not present.
Perhaps you've been put on this planet to get through this.
And the collective human consciousness is waiting for you to get through it and add your piece of wisdom to the puzzle.
Your puzzle piece of getting over this specific energy lands perfectly into this beautiful tapestry of this human experience we're all having.
So it's not just for you.
Your entire species is waiting on you.
Take a nice big deep breath in.
And an easy soft sigh out.
And I want you to take whatever this is,
Put it in a rose,
Plant it out to the side in front of you.
Now you've got a garden of personal growth.
And I know you thought,
I'm coming to meditate and he's making me be a gardener.
Getting dirty.
We have one more piece here.
So I want you to take a moment and start out by just right out in front of you in your mind's eye.
I want you to see a frame for a picture.
But right now it's just a frame.
There's no picture yet inside.
It could be any kind of frame you want.
Any color,
Any shape,
Any size.
And then I want you to allow this frame to all of the sudden start to come into form in a picture,
Start to arise,
An image,
A vision of what your soul is really here to create for this year.
What is your soul here to create this year?
Not what you want it to be or think it should be or hope it is.
Let it come deeply from your heart and let it form as an image inside of this frame.
Just one thing.
And you might get it as a knowingness or a feeling.
You know,
You might not be a visual person.
That's OK.
After you get a knowing or a feeling,
See if you can turn it into a vision.
What would it look like if it was a vision?
And then I want you to feel that.
What do you feel in your body when you really create it?
And right now,
For me,
My vision is everybody in this class together,
All the people.
I can see this almost like beautiful golden light just kind of raining down from the heavens,
Just touching the top of each of your heads.
Almost like a blessing of light and energy.
And with that comes this sense.
That you're not alone,
You're not on this journey alone,
You're not even accomplishing these goals just for yourself.
You're part of a larger spiritual community of beings that are all incarnating as humans,
Working on figuring out why they're here.
What the truth is for them,
What they're here to contribute.
And you are an equal and I want to emphasize equal part.
And so am I.
Just because I'm guiding this doesn't make me above.
Notice that level of self worth.
And allow that to fill you up and fill up this vision.
You're creating it because you're worth it.
And so is what you're going to give the rest of humanity.
Feel that in your entire being.
And then when you're ready,
You can take this image and you could just put it up on the wall inside of your mind.
It's right here.
You can look at it every day in meditation if you want to this year.
And just reaffirm your commitment.
Because you're worth it.
You have value.
You're growing into something very special and you have something to share.
With the rest of the beings on this planet.
And this is what 2021 is forming into.
Because you're deciding that it is.
Take a nice big deep breath in.
Easy,
Soft sigh out.
And when you're ready,
You can slowly open your eyes and stretch.
