Choosing whatever shape you'd like to be in for day one of this little series to enliven your unique luxurious breath.
And so today inviting you to tune into the expression that your body is in.
And if that sounds a little strange or unfamiliar you might play with exaggerating some different expressions.
Perhaps your shoulders are rounded,
You're nestled in,
Curled in towards yourself.
This sense of protection,
Breath feeling perhaps a little shy.
What does that expression,
That shape feel like?
Perhaps noticing that limited space in the front of the body,
Less room for your breath to flow,
To dance,
To nourish every single one of yourselves.
And so the opposite end of that continuum maybe opening up,
Letting the chest protrude a little forwards,
Maybe sensing a tensing engagement of the shoulders,
The upper back.
This more alert,
On guard expression.
In this expression perhaps there's a tightening through the abdomen.
Perhaps you notice some tensing through other parts of your body,
Maybe the buttocks,
The neck,
Even through the hands and the feet.
So what might it be like to find somewhere more in the middle of these two expressions?
Somewhere where you feel steady,
Where you feel supported,
Where there is a strength but also a softness.
Making as many micro movements,
Wriggles,
Adjustments.
Exploring what it might be like to experience this expression of reciprocity,
Where your body is letting it drop down,
Sink down,
Melt down into whatever surface you're resting on.
While also being open to receive that buoyancy,
That aliveness from the earth.
So to wake up your breath,
One first question might be to ask yourself what expression is my body in?
Am I more rigid and alert today?
How does that impact my breath?
Or am I feeling more lethargic,
Nestled in,
Curled in today?
How does that shift and change the way my body breathes?
Learning about our habitual body expressions,
Learning about our body dialogue.
One conscious breath in,
Gentle breath in,
And gently release that breath,
Your breath out.
I would love to see you in the next lesson.
Breathe well.
