Our practice tonight is here to calm and nourish the vagus nerve.
While guiding the entire nervous system into deep healing relaxation.
Begin by settling into a comfortable position.
Allowing the body to feel fully supported.
As the body begins to soften.
Gently close down your eyes.
Letting the breath slow.
Let the mind become quieter.
Your system begins to shift out of doing.
And into being.
Tonight,
You do not need to hold everything together.
You can let go.
You can rest here.
Start to notice the places where the body meets the surface beneath you.
The back of the head.
The shoulders.
The hips.
The legs.
Let yourself arrive here fully.
Now begin noticing your breath.
Without changing it.
Simply observing.
The inhale.
And the exhale.
And slowly now.
Invite the breath to deepen.
Inhale through the nose breathing all the way down into the belly feeling the ribs and the chest rise and exhale softly through the mouth.
Releasing tension.
With every breath.
Again,
A slow inhale.
Inviting softness into the body.
And a long exhale.
Letting the nervous system unwind.
Continue slowly.
Feel the exhale becoming longer.
Gentler.
More relaxing.
Take this longer exhale.
Helps activate your vagus nerve.
Sending calming signals throughout the body.
Start to let the shoulders melt.
Let the jaw release.
Let the belly soften.
Feel the body becoming heavier.
More relaxed.
More supported.
There's nowhere else you need to be.
Only here.
Breathing.
Resting.
Softening.
Now gently bring your awareness to your heart space.
This is where we place your Sankalpa.
Your intention for this yoga nidra practice tonight.
A quiet truth.
Already living inside of you.
Ask yourself softly,
What would feel most supportive?
For my nervous system tonight.
What am I ready to receive?
Perhaps your intention.
Is ease.
Healing.
Stillness.
Or deep rest.
Allow the words to arise naturally.
And when your sankalpa feels ready.
Repeat it silently three times.
Slowly Gently.
With trust.
As you repeat the words.
Feel them moving through.
Every part of the body.
Like warmth.
Like softness.
Like the nervous system remembering again.

As it continues drifting down the arms.
The upper arms.

Fingertips.
Now the chest.
The heart center.
Notice the gentle rhythm of the breath here.
The body breathing naturally.
Without needing your control.
Breathing on its own.
The belly rising softly.
And gently falling.
A steady rhythm.
A quiet intelligence within the body.
Now awareness moves into the hips.
The legs.
The feet.
And slowly begin sensing.
Your body.
As one whole being.
Of light.
One field.
Of awareness.
One space of sensation.
One flowing energy.
Of light.
As you rest here.
The nervous system.
Begin settling into balance.
Calming itself naturally.
In its own time.

Gently bring your awareness to your forehead.
Temples.
Eyebrows.
I live.
I see you.
Eyelashes.
Nose.
Breach of the nose.
Nostrils.
Hip of your nose.
Cheeks.
Chin.

Throat.
Collarbones.
Chest.
Heart center.
Solar plexus Navel lower belly.
Your pelvis.
Sense the whole body as one.
One complete field.
Of awareness.
Imagine now.
You are resting.
On a soft blanket.
Beside the ocean.
High above the shoreline.
On a quiet,
Grassy cliff.
It is night.
The sky is dark.
And endless.
Filled with twinkling stars.
Below you,
Waves roll gently.
Towards the shore.
A steady,
Soothing rhythm.
The cool ocean breeze moves softly around you.
Calm.
Refreshing peaceful.
You can smell the salts in the air.
Feel the softness.
Of the Earth beneath you.
With every breath.
The body begins to soften.
More completely.
