Begin by finding a comfortable position in your bed,

Closing your eyes and take a deep breath in,

Filling your lungs with air and slowly exhale,

Letting go of any stress,

Tension,

Tightness,

Finding softness in the body.

Maybe taking a moment to notice how you can be more comfortable.

Make any shifts that are necessary and then settling into stillness,

Scanning the body from head to toe.

Once again,

With every exhale,

Letting go of any tension or stress,

Tightness that your body may be holding on to in this moment.

Follow the simple pattern of your breath,

Noticing the inhalation and the exhalation,

Not trying to change anything,

Releasing control,

But just allowing yourself to breathe deeply and to breathe freely.

As you continue to breathe deeply,

Maybe you imagine a peaceful scene in your mind.

Whatever comes to mind,

It could be a tranquil forest,

A serene beach,

Or a calming meadow.

Whatever you choose,

Let yourself fully immerse in the scene.

Take a moment to notice the details of your surroundings.

What do you see?

What do you hear?

What do you smell?

Allow your senses to fully engage in the environment around you.

As you continue to breathe deeply,

Visualize a wave of relaxation washing over your body from your head to your toes.

Imagine that wave moving down your body,

Continuing to melt away any tension or discomfort.

Begin to focus on your breath,

Feeling the sensation of the air moving in.

Allow any thoughts or distractions to drift away in the sky and return your attention to your breath.

Bring your awareness to your body,

Starting at your toes and working your way up to your head.

As you focus on each body part,

Tense the muscles for a few seconds and then release the tension,

Letting go of any stress or discomfort.

Maybe starting with your feet,

Scrunching up the toes,

And then release,

Letting go.

Moving up to the calves and the thighs,

Maybe flexing the feet and finding tension and activation of these muscles.

Release,

Let go.

Bringing your awareness to your belly,

Maybe tightening,

Squeezing,

Release,

Let go.

Bringing the awareness to the chest,

The arms,

The hands,

Squeezing,

Tightening,

And then release,

Let go.

Shifting the awareness to your face,

Maybe scrunching up the face,

And release,

Let go.

Arriving in a complete state of relaxation,

Continue to breathe deeply,

Feeling more and more relaxed with each breath.

Allow your mind to quiet and your body to sink deeper into relaxation.

As you drift off to sleep,

Remind yourself that you are safe and protected and that tomorrow is a new day full of possibilities.

As we move into a sleep story based on Joseph's life,

Take one more deep breath here,

Breathing in slowly,

Exhale,

Release.

Once upon a time,

In the land of Israel,

There lived a man named Joseph.

Joseph was a faithful servant of God who worked hard every day to provide for his family.

He was a good and kind man,

But he had trouble sleeping at night.

One day,

As Joseph was reading his Bible,

He came across a verse in Psalm 4,

8 that said,

I will lie down and sleep in peace for you alone,

O Lord,

Make me dwell in safety.

Joseph realized that he had been trying to control his own destiny and had not fully trusted in God's protection and provision.

That night,

Joseph prayed to God and surrendered his worries and anxieties to Him.

As he closed his eyes to sleep,

He felt a sense of peace and security wash over him.

He knew that God was with him and would watch over him through the night.

In the morning,

Joseph woke up feeling refreshed and energized.

He knew that God had given him the gift of sleep and that he would face the day with renewed strength and confidence.

From that day on,

Joseph slept soundly each night,

Knowing that God was watching over him and his family.

The story of Joseph reminds us that we should trust in God's protection and provision even as we sleep.

We should surrender our worries and anxieties to Him and find peace in His love and grace.

For God alone can make us dwell in safety and grant us peaceful rest.

Dear God,

As we prepare to rest our bodies and minds tonight,

We come to you in prayer.

We thank you for the gift of sleep,

Which refreshes us and restores us for the day ahead.

We ask that you watch over us tonight and protect us from all harm and danger.

We surrender our worries and fears to you and ask that you fill us with your peace and comfort.

Help us to trust in your provision and protection and to find rest in your loving presence.

May we wake up tomorrow feeling refreshed and renewed,

Ready to face the challenge of the day with strength and courage.

And may we always remember that you are with us,

Watching over us through the night and guiding us on our journey.

We pray this in Jesus' name.

Amen.

As you drift off to sleep,

Remind yourself that you are safe and protected and that tomorrow is a new day full of possibilities.

Take one more deep breath in and slowly release.

Allow yourself to drift into a restful,

Rejuvenating sleep.
