This session is an introduction to grounding.
Grounding is a technique that you can use to feel more centered and calm in your life.
And it's one of my favorite tools.
So let's get started.
Begin by getting in a comfortable,
Seated position.
And for this exercise,
It's helpful to be in a chair with your feet planted firmly on the ground rather than sitting on the floor.
So find a comfortable,
Seated position in a chair with your feet on the ground.
Allow your hands to rest gently in your lap.
And now allow your eyes to gently close.
And take a few deep breaths.
Inhaling and exhaling.
And inhaling and exhaling.
And now,
I would like for you to visualize or imagine that there is a big coil of rope sitting underneath your chair.
And I'd like for you to take one end of that rope and tie it to the base of your spine.
Right where your tailbone is.
Tie a big knot.
And next,
Visualize or imagine that at the other end of this rope is a very heavy anchor.
And now what I would like you to do is drop that anchor and see it,
Feel it,
Picture it,
Falling through the floor underneath your chair.
And going all the way down,
Down,
Down,
Through any of the rooms beneath you,
All the way down through the building that you're in.
Through the floor until it meets the earth.
And then it continues to fall through all the layers of the earth.
Down,
Down,
Down.
The anchor keeps falling down.
Through the rock or the concrete.
Through all the different layers of soil and earth.
Until it gets all the way down to the very center of the planet.
The molten hot core of the earth.
And the anchor hooks in right there.
It's so solid.
So grounded in the core of the earth.
And now,
Just notice or feel the connection between the one end of the rope at the base of your spine.
And the other end of the rope attached to this anchor in the center of the planet.
Notice how you feel in your body as you become aware of this connection,
This grounding cord.
You can make the rope thicker if you would like to strengthen it.
And you can try on different images to see what works for you.
Your grounding cord could be a big tree trunk that's strong and goes all the way to the center of the planet.
Or you might visualize or imagine a beam of light connecting you to the middle of the earth.
Or it could be a column like a Roman column from a big Colosseum.
Any image that works for you is just fine.
Take a moment and notice this grounding cord and breathe into it.
And notice how solid you feel in your body when you do this.
Calm and centered.
This is what it feels like to be fully grounded.
And now just take your time.
Take a few more breaths.
And whenever you're ready,
Allow your eyes to gently open.
Thank you.
