Take this moment to prepare for rest by crawling into bed and making yourself perfectly comfortable.

Scan your awareness around your body,

Quickly releasing every muscle throughout every limb.

Focus on the body and the breath together for a few moments.

The body and the breath.

Now see yourself reclining on a white lotus,

Which is floating above the deep dark sea.

Above you is the dark night sky,

With the brilliant full moon emitting soft beams of healing moonlight upon you from above.

Feel the silky smooth texture of the lotus petals.

Light as snow,

Gently floating on the surface of the infinite sea.

With the radiant glow of the moon filling your whole body and mind with cool and refreshing moonlight.

Now your sankalpa.

Remind yourself of your core intention.

Or you may repeat any positive affirmation three times mentally.

Such as,

I am now putting my body and mind to full rest.

I am now putting my body and mind to full rest.

Return your awareness to the body.

Visualize the full moon directly over your body,

Filling it with the subtle essence of moonlight.

The healing beams of the moon are filling your entire body with nectar.

Feel the cool light of the moon flowing through your body.

From the right hand thumb to the second finger,

Third,

Fourth and fifth finger,

Palm of the hand,

Back of the hand,

Right wrist,

Lower arm,

Elbow,

Upper arm and shoulder,

Right armpit,

Waist,

Hip,

Right thigh,

Back of the thigh,

Right kneecap,

Back of the knee,

Right foot,

Shin,

Calf muscle,

Ankle,

Heel,

Sole,

Top of the right foot,

Kneecap,

Upper arm,

Top of the right foot,

The right big toe,

Second,

Third,

Fourth and fifth toe.

Feeling beams of moonlight filling the entire right side of your body.

Now bring your awareness to the left hand and feel the cool beams of moonlight filling the left hand thumb,

Second finger,

Third,

Fourth,

Fifth finger,

Palm of the hand,

Back of the hand,

The left wrist,

Lower arm,

Elbow,

Upper arm and shoulder,

Left armpit,

Left armpit,

Waist,

Hip,

Thigh,

Back of the thigh,

Left kneecap,

Back of the knee,

Left kneecap,

Back of the knee,

Shin,

Calf muscle,

Ankle,

Heel,

Sole,

Top of the left foot,

The right foot,

Left big toe,

Second,

Fourth and fifth toe.

Feeling beams of moonlight filling the entire left side of the body.

Feel the cool glow of moonlight descending from the crown of the head to the forehead,

Right eyebrow,

Left eyebrow.

Feel the cool light of the moon descending from the crown of the head to the forehead,

Right eyebrow,

Left eyebrow,

The brow center,

Right eyelid,

Left eyelid.

Right eye,

Left eye,

Right ear,

Left ear.

The nose,

Tip of the nose,

Right nostril,

Left nostril,

Right cheek,

Left cheek.

The upper lip,

Lower lip and the chin.

Throat,

Pit of the throat,

Right collarbone,

Left collarbone,

Right chest muscle,

Right chest muscle,

Left chest muscle.

And the sternum,

The upper abdomen,

The navel,

Lower abdomen.

And the groin,

The nectar of moonlight filling the whole right leg,

Whole left leg.

Both legs together.

Moonlight filling the whole right arm,

Whole left arm.

Both arms together.

The front side of the torso,

The back,

Both the front and back sides together.

The shoulders,

Neck,

Face and head.

The whole body.

Feel the whole body together at once.

Now receiving a subtle rain of nectar from the full moon,

Which is floating just above the body.

Inhale in the cool healing light of the moon,

Feeling it calm and soothe every muscle and every cell.

Inhale drawing in moonlight.

Exhale relax,

Releasing every muscle.

Feel the nectar of moonlight filling the entire body during each inhalation.

The cool,

Subtle energy of moonlight is almost liquid,

Like tiny drops of vapor flowing into the body with each breath and filling your entire being with bliss.

Breathe in and out,

Sensitizing your awareness to the nectarian beams of light.

Emotions of moonlight now causing your body to feel weightless as it begins to emit a soft glowing light,

Similar to that of the moon.

See a mental image of the full moon surrounded by infinite stars.

The light of the moon is being reflected in the rolling waves of the ocean.

The ocean waves neither crash nor fade,

But just continue rolling on endlessly across the surface of the infinite ocean.

Eternally rolling waves on the surface of the ocean.

Long ocean waves rolling eternally.

Reflecting the light of the moon,

Which is surrounded by infinite stars.

And again,

See a giant white lotus floating on the surface of the sea.

The lotus is being gently rocked back and forth by the endless rolling waves.

And in the center pericarp of the lotus is you,

Resting peacefully and silently drifting on the surface of the infinite sea,

Which is now becoming calmer and even calmer.

The surface of the sea is now so still that it reflects the heavens perfectly.

The white lotus is now floating through the cosmos with the infinite universe both above and below.

There is only infinite space all around you.

The ocean beneath you is a mirror reflection of the sky above you.

As you drift across eternity on a soft white lotus flower.

The fragrance of the lotus fills your entire being,

Calming your thoughts and allowing you to perceive inner silence.

The healing fragrance of the white lotus fills your entire right arm,

The entire left arm,

The entire right leg,

The entire left leg,

The front side of the body,

The back,

The healing fragrance of the lotus filling your shoulders,

Neck and head,

The whole body all at once.

And now feel the subtle points of contact between your body and the white lotus beneath you,

The back of the head,

Right shoulder blade,

Left shoulder blade,

Right elbow,

Left elbow,

Right hand,

Left hand,

Right buttock,

Left buttock,

Right calf muscle,

Left calf muscle,

Right heel and the left heel.

Feel the symmetry of the body,

The whole right side,

Whole left side,

Both the right and left sides together.

Feel the stability and stillness of the body.

Feel the subtle motions of the breath.

Become aware to all the motions of the breath throughout your whole body.

From the major muscles of respiration in the abdomen to the subtle motions in the arms,

Hands,

Legs and feet.

Feel the whole body breathing in and out with every breath.

Feel every cell expanding during the inhalation.

And contracting with the exhalation.

Every cell is receiving cosmic energy during the inhalation and releasing all toxins with the exhalation.

Now switch your focus to the nostrils and heighten your perception to the sensation of the breath moving in and out through the nostrils.

Begin mental alternate nostril breathing in the following manner.

Inhale left nostril,

Exhale right.

Inhale right,

Exhale left.

Inhale left,

Out right.

Inhale right,

Out left.

Inhale right,

Out right.

Now include the whole body by visualizing yourself breathing in from the left toes up to the left nostril.

Out from the right nostril to the right toes.

In from the right toes to the right nostril and out from the left nostril to the left toes.

This is one round.

Continue counting each round backwards from 72.

Continue mental alternate nostril breathing.

Counting each round backwards from 72.

Should you lose count,

Come back to 72 and continue.

Inhale right,

Out right.

Immediately alternate the breath between the nostrils.

In left toes to left nostril.

In left toes to left nostril.

Out right nostril to right toes.

In right toes to right nostril.

Out left nostril to left toes.

Inhale right,

Out right.

Now drop the mental alternate nostril breathing and become aware to inner space.

Feel the space that your body is occupying.

And within this inner space,

Visualize the full moon.

The light of the full moon is filling the entire space of your body from head to toe.

Feel that the moon is a part of you.

And you are a part of the moon.

Continue seeing and feeling the soothing glow of the full moon filling the whole inner space within your body with cool moonlight.

Again,

Recall your sankalpa.

Repeating it mentally three times with feeling.

And now whenever you are ready,

You can roll onto your side and drift off to sleep.
