Fall asleep or develop the ability of lucid dreaming! The choice is all your own! Yoga nidra allows you to enter the hypnogogic state between waking and dreaming where the subtle body can leave the physical and travel the inner worlds while you are still awake. If you do not become lucid then you will just fall asleep! In this way the following meditation is very helpful for insomniacs, as well.

Transcript

Begin by coming onto your back in Shavasana with your arms and legs equidistant from each other.

And just take this moment to become comfortable and silent.

Return your awareness to the body,

The natural breath,

And mental silence.

Become aware that you are now doing Yoga Nidra with the intention of lucid dreaming as you transcend all physical awareness and travel with your subtle body to the various worlds and dimensions between sleep and waking.

You don't need to listen to this entire session.

Anytime you choose,

You can roll over and fall asleep.

But for now,

See how long you can keep your body perfectly still and symmetrical while lying on your back.

Now become aware to the meeting points between the surface beneath you and the back of the head,

The right shoulder blade,

Left shoulder blade,

Right elbow,

Left elbow,

Right hand,

Left hand,

Right buttock,

Left buttock,

Right calf muscle,

Left calf muscle,

Right heel,

And the left heel.

Feel your whole right leg,

Whole left leg,

Whole right arm,

Whole left arm,

The front side of the torso,

The back,

Shoulders,

Neck,

Face,

And head.

Feel the whole body at once.

And now become aware to the spontaneous motions of the natural breath,

Effortlessly flowing in and out of your body,

Ascending from the navel to the nostrils during the inhalation,

And descending from the nostrils back to the navel with the exhalation.

Passively observe the soothing wave-like motions of the breath.

Now visualize the midday sun beginning to descend towards the western horizon.

The light of the sun is becoming a soothing glow as it meets the horizon and begins to set.

No sooner than when the last rays of light vanish beneath the horizon,

You begin to notice the first evening stars and the comforting darkness of the night.

The whole sky is dark now and studded with brilliant stars and planets.

The full moon rises directly over you,

Bathing your body in cool beams of moonlight.

The nectar of moonlight penetrating your body is healing and revitalizing every cell of your body,

Restoring and refreshing your body and mind.

Check to see if you are dreaming.

Choose to create the dream you wish to have as you become aware to the heaviness of your right hand.

A wave of heaviness spreading from the right hand thumb to the second finger,

Third,

Fourth,

Fifth finger,

Palm of the hand,

Back of the hand,

Wrist,

Lower arm,

Elbow,

Upper arm,

The shoulder,

Armpit,

Right waist,

Hip,

Thigh,

Back of the thigh,

Kneecap,

Back of the knee,

Shin,

Calf muscle,

Ankle,

Heel,

And sole,

Top of the right foot,

Right big toe,

Second,

Third,

Fourth,

And fifth toe.

The whole right side of the body.

And now feel the heaviness of the left hand,

The left hand thumb,

Second,

Third,

Fourth,

And fifth finger,

Palm of the hand,

Back of the hand,

Left wrist,

Lower arm,

Elbow,

Upper arm,

Shoulder,

Armpit,

The left waist,

Hip,

Thigh,

Back of the thigh,

Left kneecap,

Back of the knee,

Shin,

Calf muscle,

Ankle,

Heel,

And sole,

Top of the left foot,

The whole left side of the body.

Now bring your awareness up to the crown of the head,

The forehead,

Right eyebrow,

Left eyebrow,

The center of the brows,

Right eyelid,

Left eyelid,

Right eye,

Left eye,

The right ear,

Left ear,

Nose,

The tip of the nose,

Right nostril,

Left nostril,

Right cheek,

Left cheek,

Upper lip,

Lower lip,

And the chin,

Throat,

Pit of the throat,

Right collarbone,

Left collarbone,

Right chest muscle,

Left chest muscle,

The sternum,

Upper abdomen,

Navel,

Lower abdomen,

And groin,

The whole right leg,

Whole left leg,

Both legs together,

The whole right arm,

Whole left arm,

Both arms together,

The front side of the torso,

Back,

Both the front and back sides together,

The shoulders,

Neck,

And head,

The whole body together,

The whole body as one single unit.

And turn your awareness to the muscles involved in the act of breathing.

Feel your whole body breathing in and out.

Expanding and contracting with each breath.

Sensitize your awareness to all the various motions caused by the breath throughout the entire body.

Awareness of the breath and the body.

Feel as though your whole body is breathing.

And now bring your awareness to Chittakash,

The mental space in front of your closed eyes.

And see yourself flying through the air above a sea of clouds.

You are soaring freely and joyfully around large columns of billowing clouds.

Upon flying straight through the middle of a large puffy cloud top,

You look down and notice the large expansive desert beneath you.

There is a large winding river flowing to the north with three very large pyramids.

You glide down to inspect the spectacular pyramids with brightly polished white limestone on all sides and a capstone of solid gold.

You sense a tremendous amount of healing energy all around you.

And as you fly through the entrance of the largest pyramid,

You glide through tall and narrow corridors,

Driving to a spacious inner chamber filled with divine light.

You can feel the energy of this sacred space.

And you choose to lie down on your back,

On the stone floor.

And you bring your awareness to the right hand,

The right hand thumb,

Second,

Third,

Fourth,

And fifth finger,

Palm of the hand,

Back of the hand,

Right wrist,

Lower arm,

Elbow,

Upper arm,

And shoulder,

Armpit,

Right waist,

Hip,

Thigh,

Back of the thigh,

Right kneecap,

Back of the knee,

Shin,

Calf,

And calf muscle,

Ankle,

Heel,

And sole,

Top of the right foot,

Right big toe,

Second,

Third,

Fourth,

And fifth toe,

The whole right side of the body.

Become aware to the left hand,

The brow center,

Right eyelid,

The nose,

Tip of the nose,

Right nostril,

Left nostril,

Left nostril,

Right cheek,

Left cheek,

Upper lip,

Lower lip,

And the chin,

Throat,

Pit of the throat,

Right collarbone,

Left collarbone,

Right chest muscle,

Left chest muscle,

The sternum,

Upper abdomen,

Navel,

Lower abdomen,

Groin,

And the chest muscle,

The whole right leg,

Whole left leg,

Both legs together,

The whole right arm,

The whole left arm,

Both arms together,

The front side of the torso,

The back,

The right side of the neck,

Both the front and back sides together,

The shoulders,

Neck,

And head,

The whole body,

From the top of the head to the tips of your fingers and toes.

Full body awareness.

And now become aware to the breath at the nostrils.

Embrace the sensation of air from the nostrils back into the nasal passages,

From the nasal passages to the back of the throat.

Feel the air flowing within the breath,

Directly back from the pit of the throat.

Feel the air entering into the lungs at the top of the chest,

Expanding the lungs,

And filling your whole body with prana.

Just watch the belly rise and fall with each incoming and outgoing breath.

Deep abdominal breathing.

And now become aware to inner space.

Again,

See the space in front of your closed eyes,

Which extends far into the distance.

Sense the infinite space in front of you,

To the right of you.

Sense the infinite space behind you,

To the left,

As well as above and below you.

You are suspended in infinite space.

And in front of you,

You begin to see a large stone archway,

A stargate that allows you to project yourself into any dimension of your choice.

Observe the stone stargate in front of you,

And take this moment to choose the dream you now wish to have.

As you approach the stargate,

A burst of light opens up inside the archway,

Creating a portal of brilliant light.

You courageously step through the veil of light,

And find yourself immediately transported to your dream reality.

Give your eyes a moment to adjust as you begin to see the landscapes of your dream and your new surroundings.

You can now willfully choose the adventure you wish to have by giving your mind total creative permission to dream and to continue creating this reality you are now experiencing.

Find yourself,

I am not my mind.

I am neither the dreaming nor waking state.

I am the seer,

The experiencer,

The silent witness within.

Go on giving yourself permission to dream consciously,

Willfully creating inner worlds.

Here you are free to create your reality without limitations.

You are free to dream and explore the infinite worlds within.

Continue conscious dreaming.

You are free to dream.

Total freedom.

Although my voice will now end,
