Hey,
I'm Cyrus.
Welcome to this meditation on cultivating playfulness and going from a super serious adult back into a big kid who can have fun again.
You might have lost touch with that playful energy,
But don't worry,
By the end of this session,
You're going to be back in touch with it and the world is going to feel like a playground again.
So get into a comfortable position sitting down and with your eyes closed,
Take a deep breath in through your nose.
Breathe deeply.
Hold your breath at the top.
Feel your body as you hold the breath for a moment and slowly let it go out through the mouth.
We're going to do two more breath holds like that,
So breathe a little bit deeper this time in through the nose.
Fill up your body all the way down to your toes.
Hold it.
Feel your body and the sensations.
Slowly let the air out of the balloon out through the mouth.
Last one.
Deepest one.
Breathe super deep.
Fill it up.
Hold it and slowly let it go.
Let the muscles decompress and relax.
Become loose and limber in your limbs as you relax and let the breath return to normal now and just briefly ground yourself by being aware of the energy in your face and your head and let the spotlight of energy move to your neck and your shoulders down through your arms and your hands without thinking.
Just be aware of your chest and your stomach and your pelvic floor,
Your upper legs,
Lower legs,
Your feet and your toes and take a deep slow breath up through the feet and imagine the energy washing up towards the crown of your head and feel the energy move back down as you exhale,
Letting the energy move like a wave,
Letting everything become open and smooth in your body head to toe,
Feeling the subtle vibrations and tingling of aliveness in your body head to toe for a moment with the muscles relaxed and the mind awake and alert and now allow an image to arise of yourself as a child playing.
Remember what it looked and felt like to just play as a kid.
Maybe you've forgotten what that looked or felt like or maybe you've just become a little bit out of touch with it but just take a moment to acknowledge that on some level you remember what that feels like and now imagine yourself embodying that same energy as an adult now just as a thought experiment see yourself being in that same energy and notice any blocks or inner resistance you might have to that perhaps there's fear of judgment from yourself or others a feeling of embarrassment or being reprimanded or a sense of ego and identity like i'm an adult i don't do that whatever blocks or inner resistance you might have to the idea of playing as a kid again as an adult notice and acknowledge them now and start to notice where they exist in your body those fears those blocks that inner resistance where is it located in your body even if it's a subtle feeling and if it feels safe to really clear out that energetic block allow it to rise to the surface allow yourself to feel it fully now don't push it down just welcome up these energies and blocks that have started to accumulate over time and simply observe the sensations of it on the surface of your body now for a few moments don't try to change it don't try to judge or analyze it just shine the light of attention on the feeling in your body as it is let go of any control that you feel and simply let the wave of energy flow through your body as you continue to observe it for a moment directly and now be willing to allow it to evaporate be willing to let it dissolve into an energy greater than yourself simply relax and let it flow out of you like it never belonged to you to begin with so you can make space for something new and observe it as it evaporates and dissolves and lifts out of the body feel and sense the space you've opened up within yourself and sense that you're already getting closer to your natural way of being and start to welcome in the energy of your inner child into that space in all of their playfulness and freedom and at this layer of awareness begin to acknowledge and release any limitations that others have put on your playfulness or freedom of being anytime someone told you to not express yourself to quiet down to sit still or try to box in your sense of playfulness and freedom in any way just acknowledge any ways in which you've taken on those limitations or any places those energies still live within your body feel and acknowledge them deeply with a non-judgmental compassion and simply begin to breathe and release them from your energy field tell any of those people that they can bugger off or simply return those limitations back to them return to sender lift them out of your energy field with the breath and breathe them back to whence they came feel yourself becoming lighter and freer with every exhalation as these limitations flow out of you and trust that as you embody these energies that everyone around you will resonate with them on some level because it reminds them of their inner child so instead of fearing judgment or other people's limitations start to see and feel it as an opportunity to allow others to follow your lead to open to that energy within themselves as they see you embodying it fully and fearlessly and now start to become aware of moments in your life where you felt really playful when you were having fun without a care in the world when you were laughing your butt off just start to gently hold a space to be aware of these moments and without too much strain or effort just as an exercise in awareness start to get curious about any patterns any common denominators in what you find fun what activities or types of people or types of humor unlock that playful carefree fun energy within you effortlessly and if it's helpful maybe set a quiet intention to purposely create spaces in your life to allow more of that in in an intentional way and now visualize yourself moving forward in your life really being playful having fun connecting in that way on a day-to-day basis in your life now and moving forward feel in your body the full embodiment of that as you see it vividly see yourself instantly letting go of judgments from yourself or others and just going deeper into that energy into that sense of play that creativity that wavelength where laughter or ideas can come out of nowhere or anything at all and finally see yourself practicing seeing the world as a playground visualize yourself moving through your life and of course in a safe way looking for opportunities to move and play and joke and connect with yourself and others on a moment-to-moment basis as you see the world through this lens of it being a playground to flow through in a respectful safe but carefree way take a moment to see other people unlocking and mirroring that energy of playfulness and openness everywhere you go as you create that moment to moment and i invite you to set an intention and challenge yourself to practice this today to be aware of and invite in more of that playful energy into your moment to moment experience if you're not used to doing so it might feel like you're forcing it or a little bit contrived at first and that's okay that's normal but remember as a human being part of your brain is wired for play so if you just stick with it and stay open to it sooner or later you'll probably find yourself genuinely feeling that energy and remember that when you're in that state the playing is the point it is an end unto itself you don't need to do it for any reason you can just enjoy it as an expression of being alive so when you feel ready open your eyes come back at your own pace flow into your day in a way that feels organic and fun to you maybe do a little shimmy i invite you to
