Welcome,
I'm Christopher Wacken,
And we're gonna do a Wacken meditation.
No,
Literally,
We're gonna do a Wacken meditation.
I'm Christopher Wacken,
And I could see how that would be confusing,
But I wack like anybody else.
I power wack,
I go for strolls of the evening and morning variety,
So I want to share that joy with all of you today.
So go ahead and pause the track if you need to,
Don some appropriate footwear.
I recommend New Balance.
It's comfortable,
And it used to be affordable,
At least in the 90s.
If you're feeling that 90s nostalgia,
Like I do sometimes,
You could put on your Velcro and strap them up.
Either way,
We're about to hit the road,
So go ahead and take your first steps like you're an infant.
Go slowly,
Like you might fall over if you go too quickly.
Look at you go.
You're Wacken with Christopher Wacken in your ears.
Did you ever think this would be a life experience that you would have?
Probably not,
But here you are.
So now that you're doing that fancy two-step,
One-step at a time,
Just notice how each step feels on the ground.
Feel the soul connecting with the ground.
One step at a time.
Don't be afraid to slow down.
It's not gonna kill you to slow down.
It might feel like it will,
But you're probably walking at New York City speed right now,
So feel free to take it down to Marblehead,
Ohio speed.
That's a small town with only 900 people,
So there's not much to do,
So you don't have to rush.
So just pretend that you're in Marblehead,
Ohio,
On a Sunday,
And now that you've taken a deep breath and you're going slower,
Keep staying with each step on the ground and the soles of your feet with each step,
One step at a time,
Feeling that hypnotic rhythm start to calm your nervous system,
Turning it from a nervous system into a calm system.
Funny how that works.
And now that you're slowed down and you're connected to your feet,
Your head and your mind isn't so high in the sky,
Just start to notice the sounds around you.
Do you hear any cars going vroom,
Vroom?
Do you hear the birdies going chirp-chirp,
Chirp-chirp?
See if you can notice the sounds around you like a philharmonic orchestra playing for an audience of one,
And that audience is you.
And now let's get a little crazy.
Feel your feet on the ground and the sounds at the same time.
Feet on the ground,
Sounds and feet on the ground,
Same time.
Wow,
Look at you go.
That's impressive.
Now let's start to look at whatever you're looking at.
What are you looking at?
No,
Literally,
What are you looking at right now?
Notice the angularity of the buildings and the man-made construction.
Pay attention to the natural design of nature and the handiwork of a higher power of your understanding.
Notice all the shapes and the shadows and the light that's dancing on the objects that you're looking at with your eyes.
That's a treat,
Isn't it?
All right,
Now let's put it all together.
Start to feel the soles of your feet on the ground and the sounds and the sights all at once.
Stay present,
Let your mind go to some other place,
Take a hike while you're literally taking an actual hike and just focusing on all the sensations of the soles of your feet on the ground and the sounds and the sights all together,
Coming into detail.
Feeling the total gratitude for this moment as you enjoy the feeling of walking with walking and your legs moving and your eyes working and your ears doing their job,
Enjoying and basking in that feeling of gratitude as you let that loose,
Open,
Relaxed feeling in your body just chill,
Be felt in this moment.
Maybe waves of inexplicable bliss are pouring through your body,
Maybe not,
But either way,
Just enjoying the moment fully,
Present.
And please remember,
The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step,
And you,
My friend,
Have taken many more than that.
So in a way,
You've began many journeys here today,
And I thank you for joining me in that.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your walk without my company.
I know it'll be difficult,
But I believe in you,
And I hope you stay present with one step at a time.
Please share this track with someone who's fancy it might tickle,
And I hope you have a wonderful day.
