A warm welcome to you.
If you've ever said,
I'm not creative,
This practice is for you.
So many of us carry old stories about creativity.
That it belongs only to painters,
Musicians,
Designers,
People with obvious talent.
We reduce it to performance,
To making beautiful things.
But creativity is far bigger than that.
Life itself is creative.
Stars are born and dissolve into something new.
Water rises.
Becomes cloud,
Falls as rain and flows again.
Nature adapts,
Experiments,
Reshapes,
Begins again.
And you belong to that same living intelligence.
Today's practice is an invitation to reconnect with the creative life already within you.
Not the one waiting for a gallery or an audience.
The one that shows up when you respond differently to an old trigger.
When you rearrange a room take a different way home.
Or say the truer thing instead of the easy one.
Or you choose a kinder story about yourself.
Let's listen for how creativity wants to move through you today.
So in your own time.
Finding a comfortable position sitting or lying down.
Allowing the eyes to close or softening the gaze.
And taking three slow life-affirming breaths deep into the belly.
Letting yourself arrive here.
Feeling the support beneath you.
The breath moving naturally.
Now silently bringing the word creativity to mind.
And noticing not what you think about that word but what happens in your body when you hear it.
Is there a pulling back?
A tightening somewhere.
An old belief living in your body that whispers,
I'm not creative.
That's not for me.
Other people got that gift.
Is there a softening?
An opening.
Maybe a feeling of longing deep in your body for a more creative life.
Now bringing your hands together and gently rubbing your palms.
Feeling warmth.
Energy and aliveness building within the palms of your hands.
And when you're ready placing one hand on top of the other over the centre of your chest.
Feeling the warmth of your own hands resting there.
Noticing the points of contact.
Skin and fabric.
Fingers and chest.
And also noticing the spaces.
The subtle spaces between your fingers.
The spaciousness that exists within your body.
Can you widen your awareness so contact and spaciousness can sit together?
Now allowing your awareness to travel inward.
Beneath the skin.
Beneath the muscles and bones into the centre of your chest.
And imagining,
Sensing or feeling that deep within the heart there is one perfect star.
This star is your life force.
Your imagination.
Your capacity to create and begin again.
It has always been here.
Sparkling.
Even when you've doubted yourself.
Even when life felt heavy.
Even when you believe the story that you were not creative.
Breathing with this star now.
With each inhale it becomes a little brighter.
And now asking yourself.
What old belief about creativity am I ready to release?
And with the next few exhales imagining that belief dissolving.
Making a little more space for the star to shine.
And now imagining this star in the heart growing brighter.
Its light spreading through the chest.
The belly,
Through the throat that expresses.
The hands that make into the mind that imagines.
Light spreading into the whole body.
And here's something true,
Not just imagined.
Every atom in your body heavier than helium was forged inside a star.
Most of them the moment the star was dying.
The calcium in your bones.
The iron in your blood.
This isn't only a metaphor.
You are made of stardust.
Here in this moment every part of you remembers.
I am part of life.
And life creates.
And now together,
Let's reflect upon some questions.
There's no need to find the perfect answer.
It's enough to simply ask them.
Is there a relationship?
An old dynamic you could meet with fresh eyes.
Respond to in a way you haven't before.
Is there one small part of your daily routine you could shake up?
Just to interrupt the autopilot.
And is there a little time you could carve out for a creative project?
Not because you've earned it,
But because the time itself is a gift.
And it's not about what you make with it.
And just noticing if you feel any different to when you first press play on this guided practice.
Perhaps your body feels more relaxed,
Alive or filled with sensation.
Maybe your emotional terrain has changed.
Do you feel more inspired or motivated to move through this week differently?
Feeling the surface beneath you.
Wiggling your fingers and toes.
Maybe taking a nice big stretch.
And bringing your awareness back to the room around you.
And seeing if you can see this space with creative eyes.
Noticing what you appreciate about it.
Thanks for practicing with me today.
