A warm welcome to you.
My name is Fleur Chambers and as always it's my pleasure to be here with you.
This practice will help you create space within your mind,
Body and heart so that you can see yourself and your life in new ways.
A perfect meditation for when your mind feels busy and you need a dose of perspective.
So as always settling in,
Allowing your eyes to gently close if it pleases you today and offering yourself the gift of three deep and intentional breaths.
Trusting that as your awareness rests on your breath,
Your mind and body come together.
Like old friends in this sacred moment,
This moment that you have carved out for yourself.
To let go,
To seek clarity and to get to know yourself more deeply.
Softening the space above your eyes,
Your temples,
All the small muscles around your eyes.
Allowing your cheeks to soften,
Noticing how this naturally affects the position of your jaw.
Softening the tongue,
Allowing your entire mouth to feel relaxed and at ease.
Muscles within the throat and the neck,
Allowing them to soften.
Shoulder blades dropping down your back,
Upper back relaxing,
Middle back,
Lower back.
A sense of ease washing down your arms,
Arriving at your hands.
This sense of relaxation greeting all ten fingers.
Sitting a little heavier,
Earth receiving your weight.
Legs heavy,
All the way to your ten toes.
Feeling into your whole body,
Whole body expanding as you breathe in,
Whole body contracting as you breathe out.
Softening,
Creating space and as you listen to my voice,
Feeling into the empty space within your ear,
The empty space behind your ear,
The space at the front of your neck,
The little space at your inner elbow,
The tiny spaces between each of your fingers.
Can you feel the space between each of your toes?
Now together,
We're going to really drop into this sense of spaciousness in your mind,
In your heart,
And in your body.
Beginning by imagining that within your mind is a room and as you stand in this room,
You notice you're holding a broom and for the next few breaths,
Imagining that you are sweeping this room within your mind,
Gathering up any thoughts that no longer serve you,
Sweeping any morsels or crumbs you don't need.
You notice that this sweeping motion feels soothing,
Soothing,
Sweeping forwards and backwards,
Sweeping side to side,
Dropping deeper into this rhythm.
With each stroke,
You're creating more space,
More harmony and balance within your mind.
And it feels good to create space,
Awareness moving towards your heart now,
Continuing to visualize this internal sweeping.
Perhaps in your mind's eye,
The broom is smaller or the bristles are softer.
Within your imagination,
Sweeping your heart of any emotional debris,
Any crumbs or old feelings that feel stale,
Sweeping forwards and backwards,
Side to side,
Sweeping away any old guilt,
Shame or remorse,
Sweeping away any jealousy,
Envy or anger.
How does it feel to sweep your heart?
Shoulder blades melting down your back,
Heart feeling a little more open,
Breath feeling deeper and just noticing any space you have created.
And finally,
Sweeping your body of any tension or tightness,
Using your imagination,
Really getting into some of the cracks and corners,
The hidden pockets of you that you often ignore or judge,
Sweeping away any metaphorical cobwebs,
Perhaps deep in your shoulders,
Hips or belly,
Sweeping side to side,
Sweeping in small circles,
Clearing out of what no longer serves you,
A letting go of mind,
Heart and body.
And as you allow this sweeping image to fade,
Just noticing if you feel any lighter or more clear,
Asking yourself,
What in this moment can I let go?
Trusting in the wisdom that you receive,
Using your out-breath as a tool for letting go and continuing to ask,
What in this moment can I invite in?
Again,
Listening,
Trusting,
Using your in-breath as a tool to invite in,
Offering yourself a smile for taking the time to clear your mind,
Heart and body,
So that you can see yourself and your life with greater perspective,
Feeling back into your body,
The gentle rise and fall of your chest.
You might like to wiggle your fingers or toes or take a big stretch,
Opening your eyes,
Ready to move through the day,
Feeling more spacious,
Aware and relaxed.
