My name is Suzanne and today I want to tell you a story about your true worth.
It's a story about you,
So you'll need to participate.
But don't worry,
It'll be gentle and fun.
Get comfortable where you are.
Feel your feet,
Your knees,
Your hips,
Your middle,
Your solar plexus,
Your shoulders,
Your throat,
Your third eye in the top of your head.
Arrive here and now and breathe.
Let's invite compassion into the room.
We welcome compassion together and make space for it by deepening our breathing.
You may want to put your hand on your heart to feel compassion in your body.
When compassion's here,
We can rest and not fear any judgment.
Allow yourself to rest.
When you're resting,
You can listen to what your heart is saying.
The story begins in our imaginations.
Imagine you're out in your neighborhood walking or riding along.
It's a bright and sunny day and it feels like anything is possible.
Something good is possible.
Think of three things you can see outside in your neighborhood.
It might be trees,
Pavement,
Fields,
Or sand.
You might also notice a smell wafting in the air and hear all the sounds of your neighborhood.
On your way,
You see a person blocking your path.
This person is standing with their arms crossed and reminds you of someone who used to intimidate you in your past because they were so amazing.
This is someone you thought was very attractive,
Successful,
Famous,
Cool,
Creative,
Or powerful.
It might be someone from yesterday or it might be someone from your childhood.
How old are you when this person intimidated you?
Notice how that version of you feels.
Those feelings are important.
Take a moment to acknowledge them.
But know that this time,
Compassion is by your side.
Compassion puts two gentle hands on your shoulders and says,
I see you and I understand what you're feeling.
Compassion says there's no need to fear,
Compete,
Play a role,
Or people please right now.
There's no need to compare,
Shrink,
Eye,
Defend,
Or do anything at all except breathe right now.
Compassion is here and compassion breathes with you.
And now,
When you look at that person who used to intimidate you,
You no longer see how different you are.
You see how you are the same.
You are both spirits having a human experience.
Both of you are bright lights in your own way.
By crossing their arms,
The person isn't defending themselves against you.
They're giving themselves a hug.
Give yourself a hug too.
Compassion shows us that all intimidation and comparison are self-judgment stories that we tell ourselves.
What's true is what Deepak Chopra says,
I am beneath no one and no one is beneath me.
Your authentic power is always in believing your worth and your value.
It's in knowing that you're here for a reason,
That each of us has a purpose.
You are more than worthy of fulfilling your purpose.
You are more than enough.
Whenever you see someone on your path,
Celebrate the path.
In the miracle that your paths are crossing at that moment,
What can you notice,
Learn from,
And appreciate about this person?
The gift that compassion gives us is this calm understanding,
This equanimity,
And a reassuring acceptance of the way things are.
Compassion always sees you as worthy and valuable as you are.
There's no need to puff yourself up or shrink yourself down to try and play a role.
A role is just a small box.
You can be in your truth instead.
Your truth is what's underneath all the old roles,
Agreements,
And stories,
And it's powerful and vast.
When you're in your truth,
You shine.
Let's come back to the present moment.
Feel your feet,
Your knees,
Your hips,
Your middle,
Your solar plexus,
Your shoulders,
Your throat,
Your third eye,
And the top of your head.
Be here now.
Know that compassion is still with you.
Compassion is always with you.
I invite you to deepen your practice today by opening your eyes and spending five minutes writing or drawing a list of things,
People,
And experiences you love.
Love is real.
Love is true for you.
So write or draw that list of things,
People,
And experiences you love.
The light in me sees and honors the bright light in you.
Write or draw from that light and shine through your whole day.
