Welcome!
In this practice,
We'll revive our creative energy so we can lean into what's good in our lives and what brings us joy.
It's fuel for our imaginations and energy for inventiveness.
And it's fun!
When I was first beginning my meditation practice,
I did a guided meditation with Gabby Bernstein,
During which she said it's okay to feel good right now,
And my whole being melted.
At that time in my life,
I was expending all my energy on striving,
Performing,
And achieving,
And in my relationships I was over-giving.
That's a lot of pushing and doing.
What if I could enjoy being?
It seems so simple,
And yet it's profound.
We all have challenges.
This practice is not a spiritual bypassing,
But rather a rebalancing.
It's a recalibration of push with pull,
Because joy is magnetic.
Through joy and gratitude,
We begin to manifest our biggest dreams.
Our lives blend light and dark,
And sometimes we can let more light in.
Let's bring willingness to this practice and see what happens.
Feel free to invite your playful inner child to join in.
By accessing your imagination,
You'll go even deeper into the exploration.
To begin,
Look around you.
Notice three shapes,
Colors,
Or objects you appreciate.
Now close or soften your eyes and go within.
We'll begin the process of writing joy with three re-energizing breaths.
Breathe in through your nose and imagine you're pulling the air up from the base of your spine into your throat and all the way up through the top of your head.
Then breathe out from the top of your head all the way down to your root.
Again,
Breathe in from your root all the way up to your crown and breathe out all the way down to your root.
Once more,
Breathe in from your root all the way up to your crown and breathe out all the way down to your root.
Now with your eyes still closed,
Imagine you're in a warm,
Quiet room that's painted your favorite color.
It might be purple or green,
Blue or pink,
Yellow or turquoise or something else.
My room today is orange because it's the color of our creativity chakra,
The second chakra.
Focus on your color.
In your warm,
Quiet room,
You're sitting in a soft and flush beanbag chair.
Above you is a kaleidoscope lamp that's glowing and making beautiful patterns on the ceiling like stars on a clear night.
And you can smell something that makes you feel good like jasmine or the sea or roses or a cedar tree.
In the room with you is a little bird who's singing.
Sometimes the singing sounds like calling.
Your little bird knows your name and why you're here.
Your little bird appreciates your presence.
In this quiet room,
You are safe.
You are comforted.
You're alive and it's okay to feel good right now.
Take a moment to enjoy feeling good.
Let feeling good circulate through your whole body.
When you're ready,
Open your eyes and go directly to the page.
On your piece of paper,
Draw or write 10 things,
Experiences,
People,
Animals,
Or places that bring you joy.
That's 10 things that bring you joy.
Now circle the things on your list that are available to you today.
What else do you love that's available to you today?
It can be the simplest thing,
Something that brings you joy like your favorite cup,
A flower,
A candle,
Or your dog.
Fill your day with what you love that's available in the now.
And before you go to sleep tonight,
Thank everything and everyone in a gratitude prayer or gratitude moment.
So in the days and weeks to come,
More joy can find its way to you.
It's good to feel good.
And you are always worthy of feeling good.
And joy is here for you.
Thank you.
As you go about your day,
Remember this good feeling.
You are present.
