We’ve all known the sting of rejection. It hurts, whether it’s personal or about your work, and it can trigger old wounds. But with self-compassion we can process and transmute its energy instead of turning it into a story that will prolong our suffering. Use these healing self-love affirmations to help ease away from rumination and begin to move forward again. (Music by Jordan Andrew)

Welcome.

In this practice,

We'll use healing affirmations to begin to process the pain and disappointment of rejection.

Whether it's a social rejection,

Like a breakup,

Disagreement with a friend,

Or not getting invited to an event.

Or it's professional rejection,

Like maybe your creative work was rejected,

Or you didn't land an opportunity you really wanted.

Rejection is a challenging part of living a big,

Purpose-driven and creative life.

It means you're putting yourself out there and being courageous.

But it hurts.

You might feel dismissed,

Overlooked,

Undervalued,

Unheard,

Unseen,

Disappointed,

Angry,

Scared,

Sad,

Or alone.

Whatever your feeling is valid,

We are social creatures and researchers know that the social pain of rejection lights up the same areas of the brain as physical pain.

As a writer and creator,

I've weathered tons of rejection of work I've put my heart and soul into.

It always hurts,

But I've learned to center myself in presence and self-compassion,

So I'm not crushed by it anymore.

I want to share what really helps when it comes to processing rejection,

So you don't get stuck in the suffering of worry loops or rumination like I used to.

You're not alone in this.

For the next few minutes,

I'm here with you in spirit,

And we'll walk through this process together.

And you always have access to your inner resources of your higher self and presence.

To begin,

Look around you.

Notice three shapes,

Colors,

Or objects you appreciate.

Now close or soften your eyes and go within.

We'll begin by settling into our bodies.

Make sure you feel comfortable.

Feel your feet and wiggle your toes,

Whether you're sitting up or lying down.

Now cross your arms and hug yourself so your left hand is on your right shoulder and your right hand is on your left shoulder.

If this feels good to you,

You can rest in this hug for the rest of this meditation.

Or you may wish to put a hand on your heart or another place on the body where you're holding the tension of rejection.

When you're ready,

Let's do three calming belly breaths together.

As you breathe in through your nose,

Let your belly expand like a balloon.

As you breathe out,

Let all the air out of the balloon.

Again,

Breathing in,

We inflate the belly balloon.

And breathing out,

We deflate the balloon.

One more time,

We fill the balloon and let all the air go.

Now repeat these healing affirmations after me out loud or silently.

The first affirmation is,

I am worthy of love and acceptance.

The second affirmation is,

I love and cherish myself unconditionally.

Whenever I open my heart and soul to something or someone,

My heart and soul remain complete and intact.

I'm not lost or broken.

I'm here now and I'm healing.

I welcome difficult emotions because my feelings are valid.

I care for my feelings without having to create a story.

I wanted things to go another way and now I accept things the way they are.

I deeply value this experience.

I trust that the universe is working for my good even when it doesn't feel like it or I don't have all the information.

I am open to possibility.

I'm here to love,

Create,

Learn,

And grow and right now I'm living my purpose.

I'm open to trying again,

A redirection,

Or something better.

I am loved,

Heard,

And appreciated.

I love and cherish myself no matter what.

Even when I pour my heart and soul into something or someone,

My heart and soul remain complete and intact.

I'm not lost or broken.

I'm here now and I'm healing.

I welcome difficult emotions because my feelings are valid.

I nurture my feelings without having to create a story.

I wanted things to go another way and now I accept things the way they are.

I deeply value this experience.

I trust that the universe is working for my good even when it doesn't feel like it or I don't have all the information.

I'm here to love,

Create,

Learn,

And grow and right now I'm living my purpose.

I'm open to trying again,

A redirection,

Or something better.

I am open to possibility.

Take a moment to let these affirmations settle in your body.

No matter what challenges and disappointments you meet in life,

You are loved.

You are love itself in energetic and bodily form.

You are worthy and you are divine.

Keep learning,

Growing,

Creating,

And loving because the world needs your light and your voice.

I love how soft your voice was and the uniqueness of perspective and affirmations. I feel a lot of affirmation meditations can sometimes be the same old thing, but you came with such a creative and unique perspective. I also love how you thought the diversity of what rejection can look like so awesome meditation.
