Good morning,
Good afternoon.
There's a lot of talk and.
.
.
Desire to be in the present.
In the moment.
Just.
.
.
Being here.
And in reality we never leave here,
We never leave being present.
You never left it for a moment.
How would you do that?
And this is the bizarre joke.
That we long for that which we never leave.
So what's happening?
We want to live in the world of thought,
Of the imagination.
What's happened is we've taken the world of thought to be the real world.
We've taken what thought says to be reality.
So if reality says X,
We feel X.
We believe X.
The thought you believe is the experience you will get.
And we have failed to see this very simple.
Trick that the mind plays.
And it starts from the young edge when we start to.
.
.
Use language like the rest of the.
.
.
Most of the people.
And it's a beautiful thing.
Helps us communicate.
Or communication is not the problem.
It's when we take it.
The internal dialogue.
About ourself and the world.
That's the problem.
We take that to be reality.
It's like going to a restaurant and eating the menu.
Take the menu to be the meal.
Exactly.
Cardboard?
This food tastes like cardboard.
So we're all walking around.
Just living and thinking about life.
When thinking is a wonderful tool.
It's brilliant.
I mean,
What a creation.
This laptop in front of me was an idea in someone's mind at some point.
That's where it's useful.
Some might say not so,
But you know what I mean.
Ideas or cures for diseases.
That's where it's useful for planning.
Proper planning.
Or check in the menu to book the meal.
And that's not what it is.
That's why as we get older.
.
.
Life started becoming a bit more dull.
You know,
You see it on people's faces,
You know,
When you look at infants and even animals and there's just this openness and authenticity and joy.
But increasingly we've taken the menu to be the meal.
And that's why it doesn't taste so nice anymore.
And in some cases it's quite extreme.
So then we have mental health problems.
And it's all to do with thought.
And the unwillingness to experience what's actually here.
And that's all we're doing.
What's actually happening?
That's all we're doing.
It's not complicated.
There's nothing to work out.
You put the mind to one side now.
It's not needed.
A lot of the time.
When it's needed it'll be used.
You don't need it for walking down the street,
Having a shower.
Drinking coffee?
My pop-up saying,
Oh,
You need to get some rice on the way back from work.
Brilliant.
I will do.
I need to get that.
Project done for the boss.
So let's be with what's actually happening,
Which is simply the five senses.
And the five senses are not thinking.
That's where a life free of suffering is.
It's no more complicated than that.
Whether anybody gets there completely,
I don't know.
Or it doesn't matter.
Be very,
Very,
Very different.
OK.
So let's take a couple of deep breaths.
.
.
And you can begin to feel the breath if that helps.
Just the rising,
Particularly the end of the out-breath.
Be a bit simple.
Nothing to attain.
Just relax.
Where are you now?
All we do is notice.
I don't criticize or whatever.
Just let that train of thought die away.
Man will want you to go on a ride.
Is not to buy the ticket.
Or if you do,
Just get off.
Don't negotiate.
Do all very gently.
No drama.
Let the personal drama die away.
All the cha-cha-cha-cha-cha-cha-cha Just checking that you're not tense or strivey Take a deep breath and rest in the body.
Feel what is here.
Experience what is here.
As the attention.
What's happening?
Just relax.
Of down into the body.
Okay.
That brings us to the end.
