
Opening To Spirit Practice
Life shifted when I began letting go of the idea that I needed to control my life via the mind, with excessive judgment, thinking and analyzing. We are not our thoughts. When I realized that I was indeed protected and cared for and guided, this is being able to surrender to life. We are spirit in a physical body. We are all channels. Stepping back to trust in the wisdom of the unfolding.

So good morning,
Good day.
Welcome to your morning meditation.
I hope that you're well.
So please begin by finding comfortable seats,
Either lying down or seated.
Most importantly is that you are comfortable.
I recommend sitting up on a cushion so your knees are below your hips.
It really makes a difference to find an alignment in your spine so that you don't need to wiggle around too much during the meditation.
And so I really want to speak today about what it means to open to Spirit.
And just to preface is by saying that I was someone who had completely blocked myself from that connection.
And many of us are and this can happen as a result of many,
Many things.
But generally as children we are all completely open.
And I know I had an invisible best friend when I was a child.
I used to hear voices.
I wasn't really in a surrounding that encouraged that.
My mother had a spiritual awakening when she was in her 40s and become very connected.
But before that I do remember a lot of traumatic experiences.
And when we are so vulnerable and I've spoken about this many times and this is what I studied for the past three years is the effects of trauma on our being.
But one of the effects of trauma or the actual meaning of trauma is a disconnection.
So it's a disconnection from from our hearts so we don't feel pain.
It's a disconnection from our authentic self,
From our higher self and from what I've understood for myself anyway.
It's a disconnection from Spirit.
And you know we have this physical body but we have as a humanity become very disconnected from nature,
Very disconnected from our intuition and our gut feelings.
And we have lost this receptivity to all of these other forces that live around us.
Maybe we don't see them with our eyes but because we are so caught up in all of the stories and the narratives,
So much living in the past,
Resentment and fear and projecting ourselves into the future of what could happen,
What might happen,
That we have forgotten what it feels like to be in the moment and be present and to understand that there is so much support there for us.
Simply by tuning into those realms and there's no religious connotation to this.
In fact I really,
For myself anyway,
I've come to such an understanding that there is Spirit,
That all of the other words and names that for the stories of what this state of consciousness,
What this dimension,
I don't know how else to explain,
Is,
It really doesn't matter.
It is something that you feel for yourself when you're not in your thinking mind,
When your heart is open.
So that's why it happens in a subtle way when we align to Spirit.
It's not,
It is maybe it can be if if you entertain,
Well I don't want to say entertain,
But if you have psychedelic experiences,
That's why they are so powerful,
Is because very quickly you can touch this and feel this divine presence.
But there's also many ways with meditation that you can feel this and also in nature,
Being creative,
Giving of your heart and being compassionate.
There's this connection that you feel and for me that's what I'm trying to share with you and that's why all of this work that we're doing together is experiential,
Is because I am trying to to show you that when you do drop the veils of the mind,
How there is this incredible force of support and and yeah I mean I feel it so much now so let's just jump in and we begin by creating this container for that reason.
So when we connect to the ground beneath us and to our ancestors behind us,
To above,
To our light family or Spirit guide,
This is to create this container so that you can feel safe,
So that your mind drops,
You come out of fight or flight and that you can open and go into the more evolved parts of the brain and your prefrontal cortex.
And this is where we really feel in my studies and for myself the most Spirit.
So close your eyes if you haven't already.
Feel the weight of your body on your cushion.
Feel the pressure of your body as it touches the ground.
Set your intention to open to Spirit,
To feel,
To be receptive.
May I connect to that divine resonance within myself and state your intention three times,
Slowly,
Internally,
And let it resonate all throughout your body.
Letting gravity weight your body down just a little bit more.
And then let's find our breath because our breath is always the best way to connect to Spirit.
So take a deep breath in through your nose,
Feeling the air as it comes in through your nostrils,
Filling up your chest and your belly.
Take in some more air and exhale out your mouth with a sigh.
Exhale all the air out following the exhale,
Empty natural abdomen,
Squeeze the air out and then hold the air out.
Let your body ground,
Connecting,
Grounding,
And then breathe in again through your nose,
Filling up the four corners of your lungs.
Take in some more air,
Hold,
And exhale out your mouth with a sigh.
Exhale,
Emptying out the back of your throat,
Letting go of tension,
Letting go of stress,
Letting go of the stories of the mind.
And then hold the air out,
Noticing the stillness in your body.
And then breathe in again,
Taking in some more air,
Lengthen your spine,
Widen your shoulders,
And exhale.
Exhale all the air out,
Exhaling,
Exhaling,
Exhaling,
Letting go,
Letting go,
Letting go.
Hold the air out,
Connecting to that stillness in your spine,
Grounding and rooting yourself.
And then gently closing your mouth and breathing in and out of your nose,
Keeping it simple,
Just feeling the breath in your body staying aligned to your breathing.
Give yourself permission to let go of the thoughts,
Knowing that when the mind wants to wander,
That's what it wants to do,
But that we are here to strengthen your awareness so that you can connect to spirit.
Just remembering your intention each time you find yourself thinking,
And then bring yourself back to your body and to your breath,
With a smile.
Taking a moment now,
Acknowledging the ground beneath you,
Very subtle,
You can touch the ground if you want,
Or just imagine that beneath your cushion,
Beneath the floor,
Beneath the bottom part of your building or house,
There is soil,
There is earth,
And it's alive.
And we are part of this,
We are made up of the same molecules as the planet beneath us.
Just express some thanks for its nourishment,
Giving us home and shelter.
And as you do this,
Notice roots growing out from the bottom part of your body,
Connecting to everyone else that's here in our group,
Feel that connection and support,
How good it feels to be grounded,
And then feel those roots go down into the center of the earth,
Softening your hands,
Softening your feet,
Softening the scalp and your temples,
Feeling your eyes go down and back in the sockets,
Just keeping your attention on your breathing,
Noticing you can follow your attention,
Follow your breath,
Filling up with as much air as possible,
Pausing,
Before gently exhaling all the air out,
Really emptying out your belly each time,
Pausing at the bottom of your exhale,
Feeling the weight of your body grounding a little bit more each time,
Before breathing in again,
Lengthening your spine,
Breathing all the way up to the top of your head,
Pausing at the top,
Before exhaling again,
And behind you calling in the presence of your ancestors,
Just see their faces.
If you knew them personally,
Just feel their presence.
What was it like to be around that wonderful grandmother who always knew what she wanted,
Always peeled your oranges like mine,
And I can feel her.
Maybe it was a grandfather.
Just imagine them and their parents,
And their parents,
How far they came and walked upon the planet earth so that you could be born.
Just imagining them sitting behind you,
Supporting you with their wisdom,
Feeling their strength and resilience.
They also had difficult experiences with their ancestors.
They also had difficult times of war and famine,
Disease,
And they survived.
Finding your breath and staying aligned to your breathing,
Remembering in front of you the next seven generations,
Our children,
Your friends' children,
And so forth.
Just realizing that we are here as a humanity to evolve,
Evolve,
And then bring your attention to your heart,
Touching your heart with both hands,
Feeling the pressure of your hands,
Tuning in to how you're feeling right now in your life,
Being honest about where you're struggling,
Feeling this connection to your own heart by welcoming all of the parts of you giving yourself permission to tap into your own areas of frustration right now.
Just asking yourself,
Where am I struggling?
Where am I judging myself too harshly,
Being too critical or impatient?
Where in my life am I feeling disconnected and separated from my authentic self?
And as you bring these situations into your consciousness,
Give yourself the space to feel into how it makes you feel to allow them to be there,
To not numb them or repress them,
But instead take responsibility for the parts of you that are suffering.
Spirit isn't something to be understood.
It's a feeling that occurs when you let go of trying and allow yourself to touch deeply within your heart.
It's beyond judgment,
Criticism,
And it happens when you can embrace the resistance.
It's like an inner dissolving that occurs when we acknowledge areas of pain,
Where we're hurting ourself,
And we're not hurting ourselves.
So as you rock gently,
Feeling the touch of your breath within your heart,
Giving yourself permission to feel,
Remembering that you are not alone,
You are held in this wonderful container that you created.
And here we are all over doing the same practice,
Feeling the same presence and support,
Because we're doing it together.
So feeling into your body,
Staying with the sensations.
If you're feeling resistance to this,
I invite you to lean into the walls and the blockages,
Just staying with them and see what happens.
And breathing here,
Let's take three deep purging breaths.
Inhaling through your nose,
Filling up your heart,
Washing over your heart.
And now exhale out your mouth with sound.
Exhale,
Letting go,
Releasing the fear,
The anger,
The past,
Letting it drain down into the ground,
Giving it back is really nourishment for our planet.
It wants us to heal so that it can be at peace.
If we notice our pain,
We'll stop.
Fighting.
So breathing again into your heart,
Washing over your heart and holding yourself with compassion.
And exhale,
Feel that release,
Letting go,
Draining into the ground,
Letting go of that which doesn't serve you.
You can literally feel the drain from your body.
And then breathe in again,
Taking in some more air,
Really bringing to mind something you want to let go today,
Now.
And exhale,
Let go of that belief,
Let go of the pattern,
Let go of what doesn't serve you,
A dynamic,
A relationship.
Let it go.
Hold the air out,
Connecting now to spirit,
To that divine resonance in your body,
Feeling that stillness.
It really is in the stillness that you can enter.
And then breathing here,
Letting yourself be still,
Feeling at home in your body.
It's about opening your heart,
Trusting,
So that you can surrender each moment of the day instead of trying to control.
And you realize that you are cared for,
You are protected,
You are guided.
But in order to feel that alignment and frequency within the heart,
We have to take layers and layers like an onion peeling off of conditioning,
The beliefs that we have been telling ourselves.
So just bringing your hands to your heart.
What ways today can you connect to spirit?
What ways today can you connect to your heart?
Just say,
Make a commitment to do three of those things.
Walk in nature,
Garden,
Journal,
Play with your kids,
Cook,
Be still.
So just repeating to yourself,
I am free.
I am whole.
I am connected to my heart.
I'm sovereign.
I am free to choose in each moment to go towards fear or to go towards this incredible truth that we each have flowing within us.
That we are here for this.
We can't be surprised as a humanity.
This is what we are here for,
To remember this,
That we are whole and aligned and connected to spirit,
Connected to everyone,
Everything.
Just really feeling into this sensitivity,
Holding yourself with compassion.
You've done the best you can.
You're doing such a good job.
It's like putting your arms around yourself and just giving yourself a hug.
How good it feels to be held.
And just repeating,
I am loved.
Letting your body fill up with this feeling of being seen,
Just imagining your beings above you or mentors,
Teachers,
The divine itself.
The family of light to protect you that are protecting all of us now.
Just feel this presence above you.
Like you're sitting in a in the sunshine,
Feeling that warmth as it goes into your blood and your bones,
Consolidating our practice,
Sealing it.
And with that feeling this wonderful sense of gratitude to have this opportunity to connect with one another,
To be alive.
Such a miracle to be alive right now to witness this.
It's really challenging.
It's really hard.
But if you're listening to this and have been following the meditations,
You have that call within yourself.
Otherwise you wouldn't be here.
And there really is an urgency right now to stay in this space of receptivity and connection and trust that we are on the right path.
That as long as we are coming from an open heart and staying calm,
So not feeding the fear,
Not getting involved with all of the stories of mainstream media,
Because that is precisely the opposite.
It is telling us to be fearful,
To be scared,
To live in panic.
And when we are like that,
We can be controlled.
And this is what we are working with right now.
So don't just be aware when you're feeling the fear and bring yourself back.
Right now we are aligning so that we can show others around us that this possibility is really no longer just,
You know,
We're no longer just here to succumb.
But we are here to wake up.
So this is about awakening to this truth.
And I know it's work.
