Allowing your eyes to close now or simply softening your gaze,
I want you to become aware of the physical space you occupy in this moment.
In a world that often demands your attention to be elsewhere,
On a screen,
In the future,
Or across the globe,
This practice begins by bringing your attention to the here and now.
Feel the weight of your body supported by whatever you're resting on.
Notice the contact between your feet and the floor or your back against the chair.
This is your first anchor.
No matter what's happening in the new cycle,
This physical support is a constant,
Tangible reality.
Take a slow,
Intentional breath in through the nose,
And as you exhale through the mouth,
Imagine releasing the day's tension as a fine mist or vapor.
With every breath,
You're signaling to your nervous system that it's safe to step out of fight or flight and into a resourceful presence.
Imagine you are standing at the top of a short set of steps.
5 steps to deep relaxation.
In a moment,
I'm going to count you down those steps,
And as I do,
I want you to count along with me as you imagine stepping down onto each step.
And with each and every step that your foot touches,
I want you to imagine that you are becoming twice as deeply relaxed with every step,
Moving into a deeper state of quiet,
Suffering stability.
Stepping down now onto the fifth step,
Begin to let go of the external world.
Feel your shoulders dropping away from your ears.
Stepping down onto the fourth step,
Recognize that you have permission to pause,
Sinking deeper into the support beneath you.
Heavy and twice as relaxed.
Down,
Down to the third step.
Your breath is becoming steady,
Rhythmic and effortless as you move into a focused state of calm.
Calm and serene,
You allow my voice to lead you further down.
And moving down to the second step.
The muscles in your face and jaw soften completely as any remaining thoughts of the outside world are becoming like background noise,
Distant and unimportant for this time.
And now,
Stepping down onto the first step into a very deep state of relaxation.
And zero,
Stepping down into stability,
Into the center of your sovereign calm.
Fully present,
Fully grounded and as deeply relaxed as you've ever felt before.
And from this peaceful state,
We can now address the mental weight of uncertainty with clarity and professional focus.
Visualize yourself as a vast ancient mountain.
You are solid,
Unmoving and deeply rooted into the earth.
Your peak reaches high into the air and your base is unshakable.
You remain perfectly stable and grounded while the sky above you is a place of constant change.
From here,
You can begin to observe the world outside as if it were simply weather passing around you.
The shifting headlines,
The complexities of leadership decisions and the fluctuations of economic pressure are like clouds appearing in that wide,
Expansive sky.
They are not threats to your stability.
They are merely clouds drifting into view and they may linger a moment.
They will pass by.
As a cloud of economic uncertainty appears,
Practice your skill of observation.
Instead of reaching out to grab the cloud or trying to push it away,
Simply label it.
Silently say to yourself,
I am noticing a thought about financial stress.
Notice how,
By labeling the thought,
You remain separate from it.
You are the unshakable mountain observing the cloud.
Watch it move across the sky of your mind,
Knowing it cannot alter the solid foundation of your being.
Another cloud may appear,
Perhaps a thought regarding leadership decisions.
Again,
You simply recognize it.
You acknowledge its presence without being swept up in it.
You may say,
I am noticing a thought about uncertainty.
You allow it to continue its journey,
Moving through the sky,
While you remain centered and immovable.
The weather of the world will always change,
Sometimes turbulent and sometimes still,
Yet you remain the constant,
Sovereign observer.
From this high,
Clear perspective,
You can see that you have the resourcefulness to navigate any landscape,
Regardless of the weather of the world.
Until the chimes remain as the mountain,
Watching any thoughts of uncertainty drift by like clouds in the vast sky,
Contemplate your own inner stillness.
As you remain centered in your mountain-like stillness,
Begin to picture a color that represents feelings of pleasant relaxation.
Let this color become your personal symbol of calm and stability.
Imagine this color spreading deep inside,
Filling your body with more and more of this sense of calmness,
From the soles of your feet all the way up to the crown of your head.
Make those feelings deeper and stronger,
As deep as you can possibly imagine right now,
Until the color overflows into the world around you,
Filling the whole space.
Within this field of peaceful energy,
Imagine you're in the middle of a relaxing scene,
A place of total safety and sanctuary.
This is your safe place.
You're there now,
Moving deeper into the color of these positive feelings.
Allow yourself to really believe that you're there,
Right now.
Know that you are secure and you can relax completely into your safe place.
Notice how your breathing is relaxed,
How calm you are.
Imagine you can hear the sounds of your safe place,
Listening even to the periods of silence between the sounds.
Hear everything,
Especially the sounds that make your positive feelings grow.
Look at what you can see in your safe place,
The colors,
The shapes,
The movement.
Look at everything,
Especially the things that make your positive feelings grow even deeper.
Take a few moments now to really explore this sanctuary.
Notice how as you pay attention to the details,
The more real and powerful this image becomes.
As you experience your safe place,
You may feel yourself merging with this stability,
Becoming unified.
Allow yourself to imagine what it feels like to just become one with this enduring peace.
Until the chimes,
Just rest and relax into this positive energy.
Sense a smile in your heart and absorb the feelings of calmness and stability.
You can return to your safe place and recover this positive energy anytime you choose.
Just imagining it feels good and those good feelings heal the mind.
You are whole,
You are complete and you are safe.
Your safe place is always available to you.
Take as much of this stability with you as you want,
Using these feelings to see the world from a higher perspective.
As we begin to bring this session to a close,
Take a moment to integrate everything you have experienced today.
That sense of mountain-like stillness,
Vibrant color symbolizing calm and stability,
And the positive feelings of your safe place are not things you leave behind,
They are internal resources that now belong to you.
When you encounter the noise of the world,
Whether through a headline,
A conversation,
Or a thought,
Remember that you are the observer.
You have the skill to label the stress,
Watch the cloud pass,
And remain anchored in your own resourceful presence.
You're moving back into your day with a strengthened perspective,
Knowing that your internal stability is independent of external volatility.
Begin now to become aware of the room around you,
Feel the air on your skin.
Bring that sense of sovereign calm with you.
