Welcome.
Take a moment to get comfortable.
Close your eyes if you'd like to.
Notice the rise and fall of your chest as you inhale and exhale.
Notice how your body already knows exactly what to do.
This amazing,
Intelligent,
Wondrous body of yours that does so much for you every second of every day.
Take a full inhale and a slow exhale and then let your breath return to its natural rhythm.
As women,
We're often taught to criticize our bodies.
We're surrounded by constant,
Clever marketing that steers us towards finding flaws that require fixing.
We're rarely encouraged to accept ourselves,
To appreciate ourselves,
To be at ease in our own bodies.
Perhaps you long to be comfortable in your body,
To shift from a space of conflict about how you look or how you feel to a space where there's loving acceptance.
To begin this journey,
We start by speaking to ourselves with the same kindness and compassion that we'd extend to a much-loved friend.
What part of your body is most asking for your love in this moment?
What muscle or limb or organ or area of your body comes to mind?
Once you've identified that part of your body that is asking for your love and attention,
Direct your breath to that area on your next inhale.
Allow your love to flow there.
And as you exhale,
Imagine that love radiating throughout the rest of your body,
Filling you with warmth and nourishment from head to toe.
Repeat after me.
I am at peace with my body.
I speak to myself with kindness and compassion.
I make choices that help me nourish my body's needs.
My body was my very first friend.
I cherish our friendship.
Nothing needs to change before you can befriend your body.
There is no weight to lose or gain before you extend words of kindness to yourself.
You do not have to be a certain size or shape before you are worthy of your own compassion.
You do not have to feel whole or healed before you invest in this friendship.
And it's not too late to begin.
Your body has been with you your whole life.
From first breath,
And it will be with you until your last.
This is loyalty.
This is friendship.
Take a couple more breaths,
Feeling that love radiate throughout your cells.
Your body has been waiting for this.
And you can give yourself this gift of kindness any time of day,
From wherever you are,
Whatever you're doing.
In your own time,
Gently open your eyes,
Allowing yourself to reconnect with the space around you.
Thank you for joining me for this 5 minute meditation,
Sending love from my body to yours.
