Welcome,

Welcome to self healing Mondays,

A place to take a break from the world,

The safe space to tap into yourself to slow everything down and connect to your heart and your soul.

So how are you doing today,

My fellow traveler?

How are you feeling?

All and every feeling is welcome here.

And perhaps you're not feeling anything at all.

Perhaps at this very moment,

You feel nothing,

You feel numb.

And that's okay too.

Because everything is welcome here in this space.

All of you is welcome here in this space,

Just the way you are.

You're allowed to feel however you're feeling.

There are no feelings to avoid.

And there are no feelings to strive for.

You're supposed to feel everything.

You're supposed to feel every single one of the emotions that exist.

Because all the emotions exist for a reason.

They exist to be felt.

Not just the good ones,

Positive and easy emotions.

You're supposed to experience all emotions,

The uncomfortable,

The challenging,

And the painful feelings too.

You're supposed to feel all of it.

We grow up being told that we should strive to be happy all the time.

But deep down,

We all know it's impossible to be happy all of the time.

And yet,

We keep putting ourselves under so much unrealistic pressure to feel better,

To be happier.

Stay positive.

Cheer up.

Paint a smile on your face.

We've been told our whole lives to do anything but feel the uncomfortable.

Do anything but do that.

But we're doing ourselves,

Our souls,

A huge disservice each time we refuse to feel something that needs to be felt.

Each time we deny,

Repress,

Or ignore an emotion,

We are denying,

Ignoring,

And repressing ourselves.

The lessons we learn in the pain and discomfort are vital for our evolution.

So giving ourselves permission to feel the sadness,

The grief,

The loneliness,

The struggle,

The loss,

Or whatever else,

Is how we set ourselves free.

Life is a journey.

A journey that has nothing to do with a destination.

There is no happy place to reach.

And I'm not being depressing by telling you that.

It's actually good news,

Not bad news.

You don't have to chase anything.

You don't have some far off destination to reach.

Life is here,

Right now.

This is it.

And you're supposed to live all of it,

Fully.

We're here to experience everything,

All of it.

The good,

The bad,

And the ugly.

So isn't it time we stop avoiding the discomfort and instead find the courage to accept the uncomfortable emotions and even maybe embrace them?

Because they are a necessary part of life that will never change.

We can spend our lives avoiding the pain,

But that means we never get to experience all the magic that life has for us.

Because the magic is usually right on the other side of the pain.

All you have to do is have the willingness to go through and not run the other way or bury your head in the sand.

So let's take some deep breaths here.

In this moment,

Let's breathe in the courage to feel everything.

Breathe in the courage to feel as deep as you can.

And breathe out trying to hold everything together.

Breathe in permission to feel it all as deep as you can.

And breathe out trying to control your emotions.

Breathe in openness to everything.

And breathe out all of your resistance.

Just breathe.

Just allow.

If you feel numb,

Then let yourself be numb.

If you feel joy,

Then relish in the warmth of that feeling.

And if you feel sad,

Then accept it.

Be with it.

Sit with the sadness for a while,

Like a familiar old friend.

And breathe.

Just breathe.

Remember,

No emotions are permanent.

All emotion is constantly changing.

This too shall pass.

Whatever you're feeling right now will pass,

Just like everything else.

The uncomfortable feelings are there to serve a purpose,

So it's time to stop avoiding them.

Whatever feelings come,

Let them come.

Don't block anything.

Don't try and push anything down.

Breathe into it.

Experience all of it.

And trust that it's there for your highest good.

The discomfort in negative emotions is gifting you something.

Perhaps it's liberation,

Relief,

Clarity,

Release,

Acceptance,

Surrender,

Defeat,

A cleansing,

A do-over,

Or a shedding of a skin.

Gift yourself all of those things.

Gift yourself a new year of feeling everything.

Allow yourself to feel it all in 2023.

No matter what the emotions are,

You will survive them.

You will learn from them.

You will evolve as a consequence of them.

You will grow and you will thrive if you give yourself permission to feel whatever comes.

No more avoiding.

No more numbing.

No more ignoring.

Just acceptance of all that is.

It's time to give yourself permission to experience everything life has to offer by feeling all of it.
