Hello and welcome.
My name is Nat and I am very excited to share this mindful moment with you.
It is one of the nearest and dearest lessons that I hold close to my heart and I share regularly in my life.
It is the lesson of Messi.
All too often I find myself traveling through my days in an effort to seek perfection.
And it is in this perfection that I begin to see how I am holding myself back.
It is in this quest for having everything right before I share myself with the world that holds me back from the growth,
From the love,
And from the light that I have available within me.
You see,
It is the mess that is my light.
It is the mess that is my love.
It is the mess that is the vulnerability that creates the bridge to connection that I so desperately desire in my life.
So this meditation is going to be Messi.
It is going to hold space for all the parts of us that don't feel right,
That don't belong,
Or as we will come to learn,
We don't think belong,
But are a very big part of us.
If this is something you desire,
If this is a space you'd like to hold for yourself,
Then join me now in a seated position.
It begins with permission,
Giving ourselves permission to be here just as we exist in this moment and letting it be enough.
From your seated position,
Can you ground into the foundation of who you are?
All of the parts of you that show up today,
That arrive in this moment,
Create a secure foundation that welcomes them in,
That allows them to be a part of your experience.
Uncross any feet or arms or legs or fingers,
All of your limbs open and ready to receive,
Ready to give.
Feel your feet firmly on the ground below you,
Your sits bones on the seat beneath you.
Allow your next inhale to lengthen your spine,
Creating a little more space between the chest and the hips.
Use your exhale to soften the shoulders down,
To allow the arms to rest gently on the legs.
And then with that new awareness of your breath,
Will you begin to listen?
Listen to the thoughts that join your practice.
And as the awareness of your lived experience begins to settle,
If it feels safe to do so,
I invite you to soften your gaze,
To close your eyes and maybe gently tilt your chin down towards your chest.
Notice the thoughts and begin to welcome them into your experience.
Perhaps you label them,
Perhaps you give them a name,
But welcome them in with the warmth of all of that that your heart desires.
Hello judgment,
It's so good to see you.
I have so much love for you.
Will you come sit with me?
Hello critical self,
I see you.
I have so much love for you.
Will you come sit with me?
Will you join me on this journey?
Hello doubt,
I see you.
And I have so much love for you.
Come and have a seat beside me.
Will you breathe with me for a moment?
Who else is here with you?
Will you let them be present?
Will you acknowledge them?
What part of you needs to be heard,
Needs to be seen right now?
Use your breath to compassionately witness the parts of you that desire to be seen,
That desire to be heard.
You don't have to suppress it in this moment.
You can be with it.
You can welcome it in.
You can share your abundance of love for this part of you that is messy,
That is uncomfortable,
That you may not want to see.
It is what makes you whole.
It is the part of you that I want to see,
That I want to experience,
Because those parts exist in me too.
Those parts are what connect us.
Not the perfect parts of you,
The messy parts of you.
Spend a moment longer,
Three or more or four more cycles of breath of just exploring the thoughts,
Exploring the thoughts,
Acknowledging the parts of you that need to be heard,
Need to be seen.
Label them,
Name them,
Welcome them in wholly and fully.
Let them join you at this table that is filled with compassion,
With love,
And with an abundance of kindness.
Remind them that they belong.
Slowly begin to look with the eyes closed around you.
See all the parts of you that you've invited to sit with you on this journey in life,
Welcoming them in as part of you that exists,
That is important.
The messy,
The uncomfortable,
The frustrating,
All of the parts of you that exist within this struggle,
The struggle of your life,
The struggle of this human experience.
These are the parts of you that connect you to others.
And when you let them be seen,
When you give them the chance to have light and to have love and to live in your life,
Their ability to control you,
It lessens,
It weakens,
The charge it reduces.
Can you feel that yet?
How bringing them forward,
How feeling into them,
How seeing them calms them,
Reduces their hold on you,
Their need for your attention,
Their shouting.
For a part of you to see them,
It lessens,
It diminishes.
Smile back at all of these parts of you.
We are not meant to show the world just our strengths.
We are meant to show the world our struggle as well.
It is what unites us.
So in this final moment together,
Will you see,
Will you witness all the parts of you that you may have hidden,
Apologizing with your warmth,
Acknowledging with your love,
Recommitting,
Reaffirming that these parts,
This struggle within you,
It also belongs.
It also will guide you if you let it.
It is these parts of us that show us where our work exists,
Where our growth,
Where our potential lies.
With your next breath in,
Draw all of your awareness to the realm that you exist in right now,
The space in which your body sits and rests.
Take a couple of cleansing breaths in,
And then soften as you let it go.
A new awareness for the strength and the struggle that exists within us.
A new acknowledgement that the struggle holds a place in us,
That it too belongs,
And that with love and compassion,
With seeing the struggle,
With letting the struggle be seen,
We can gain the clarity we need,
The guidance we so desperately crave to live our life fully and wholly connected and loved.
Slowly begin to open the eyes,
Welcoming the room back into your awareness.
It is from here that I seal in our practice.
It is from here that I acknowledge you,
All of the parts of you.
I want to see all of you.
It's what I feel most connected to.
