Hello and welcome.

My name is Nat and I'm here to guide you through an exercise designed to help stimulate and activate your vagus nerve.

The vagus nerve is the longest cranial nerve in your body and it's vital in regulating various bodily functions.

It connects your brain to many of your organs including the heart,

Lungs,

Digestive,

And immune systems.

Stimulating the vagus nerve can help reduce stress,

Promote deep relaxation,

Improve digestion,

Enhance your mood,

And even boost your immune system.

By activating the vagus nerve you can regulate your nervous system and restore a sense of inner balance.

So join me now by finding a quiet place where you can lie down or rest for just a moment.

Close your eyes and take a few slow breaths in and out of your body.

Give yourself permission to rest here for a moment.

Notice as your body softens your thoughts gradually flow to a more gentler rhythm.

Begin by taking your attention,

Your full attention to your breath.

Take a slow deep inhale through the nose.

Allow your belly to rise and then gently exhale through your mouth letting your belly fall.

Continue this slow deep breathing pattern throughout our time together allowing the whole body to open and expand with each in-breath and then to gently fall and contract with each out-breath.

Now imagine a soft warm light glowing at the center of your chest.

Visualize this light expanding and radiating throughout your entire body continuing your efforts to soothe and relax every part of you.

Allow that light to expand beyond the chest into the shoulders and arms illuminating every single tip of your hands and fingers.

Allow the light to expand beyond the pelvis down through the legs and into the feet.

Allow the light to flow up past the neck into the head your whole body enveloped in this warm gentle light.

As you continue breathing slowly and mindfully allow the light to begin to fade away and bring your focus to the area around the crown of your head.

Imagine gentle waves of relaxation flowing from your crown down your head past your neck your chest your belly the arms the legs.

Feel these waves of peace spreading throughout your body releasing tension and stress.

Next shift your attention to your belly.

Place one hand on your stomach and take a moment to feel the warmth of your hand where it rests.

Place the other hand on your heart and take a moment to feel the gentleness of your own embrace.

As you breathe visualize the breath carrying your love reaching every part of you and the mind's eye repeat silently to yourself.

I am calm.

I am centered.

I am content.

My body and my mind are in harmony.

I am calm centered and content.

My body and my mind are in harmony.

Allow yourself to stay relaxed to stay in this harmonious space for a few more moments.

Enjoy the sensations of rest and tranquility that you've created.

If any thoughts arise acknowledge them unattach yourself from them and let them pass without judgment.

As many times as you need gently carry yourself back to breath to body to touch.

I am calm.

I am centered.

I am content.

When you feel ready and not a moment sooner slowly open your eyes and take a moment to reorient yourself in your surroundings.

Notice how you feel and give yourself a moment of gratitude for pausing today for activating your vagus nerve regulating your nervous system and restoring a sense of inner balance.

I invite you to linger here as long as you need and I thank you for joining me today.

This has been a game-changing practice for me, especially as I’ve started my HSP acceptance journey. I even managed to do this at the airport yesterday and came out of it feeling highly regulated. Thank you! 💖

I noticed, as a previous reviewer mentioned, some crackling from time to time which I found distracting. I appreciated the affirmations. Calm, centred and connected. Thank you for offering this.

What grabbed me was the mention of the vagus nerve… because of a somatic healing journey I am leaning into. I confess I didn’t believe an 8 min meditation would be enough and I like this teacher so I tried it on. Once again her tone, pace, guided journey has happy I tried on even a shorter meditation today. 🌺
