Hello,
My name is Sam.
This guided meditation is to help you let go of all thoughts,
Feelings and emotions that may be holding you back.
Let's begin by finding a comfortable place to sit or lie down where you won't be disturbed for the next 5-10 minutes.
Adjust your posture so that you feel aligned and long.
Roll the shoulders down away from your ears and relax your legs.
Take a deep breath down into the heart of the belly,
Expanding the lungs,
The ribs and chest,
Then let this breath go softly.
Feel the body start to surrender tension and tightness,
Allowing gravity to nestle you deeper into the surface that's supporting you.
Notice how safe and supported you feel.
It feels so good to rest like this quietly.
Breathe in deeply once more and then slowly release the out breath.
Feel the body softening even more as you sink deeper into a state of relaxation.
The more the body relaxes,
The more thoughts and feelings may start to appear in your mind.
This is completely normal,
It's just what the mind does.
Allow the thoughts to appear but try not to get involved in the story of the thought,
Just look at them from the outside without judgement.
If you find that one of these thoughts is related to something that's holding you back,
Turn it into a balloon that you're holding the string of in one hand.
So,
If a thought appears and it's one that you know is holding you back,
Turn it into a balloon and hold it with the others in one hand.
And one by one you'll find you gather a little collection of balloons in your hands,
All held by the string.
You can think of these balloons as old hurts,
Losses or situations that no longer serve you.
They can be from way in the past or something current in your life that you do not wish to hold on to anymore.
You might only have one or two balloons or you might have more,
It doesn't matter how many there are.
Once you've gathered your balloons,
Give each one a name for what it represents and then assign a colour to it that you think suits it.
Start to notice that the strings of the balloon appear to be firmly wound around your fingers.
You want to let them go but they're firmly tied around the fingers.
Let's try taking just one of them and considering it.
Think about what this balloon represents to you and how much happier you would be without this balloon impacting your life.
With your other hand,
Find the end of the string for that balloon and carefully unwind the string from your fingers.
You can feel the pressure releasing from your hand as you do this and it already starts to feel better,
Lighter.
Say to yourself,
I am letting this go now and the balloon will start to float away from you up into the sky.
Follow it with your eyes as it gets further and further away,
Getting smaller and smaller until eventually you just can't see it anymore.
A sense of relief falls over you from having let go of that balloon.
Now consider the next balloon and what this one means to you.
You might start to feel light-hearted as now you know that you can let this balloon go too.
Carefully unwind the string from your hand and let go of the balloon.
Say to yourself,
I am letting this go now.
Watch it fly high into the clouds until eventually it vanishes from sight.
Notice how you are feeling lighter again.
This is fun.
Continue to repeat this process with each balloon until one by one there are none left.
Watch them fly away and vanish far into the distance.
Now your hands are empty and you feel relief and lightness as the weight of those negative thoughts are no longer bearing down on you.
A feeling of cleansing washes through your body as the negative energy is no longer within you.
Enjoy this feeling of accomplishment as you relax for a few more moments.
You might even notice that there is a hint of a smile at the corners of your mouth.
Once it feels like the right time,
Begin to move your body gently and prepare it for movement.
You might like to take another deep breath in now,
Maybe even stretch the whole body and just let the breath go.
Thank you for joining me today.
