A really warming and nurturing talk, I’ve never thought of anger as trying to protect me. I will for sure practice stopping, breathing, and looking with curiosity at what my anger is trying to protect. Thank you so much 🙏

Beautiful metaphorical story telling. I discovered that the reactor enjoyed the challenge of the river and was freer without the burden of the carer! So it was easy to let them go with love. The carer drifted up and above able to see rocks but moving slowly so could apply curiosity and avoid them. I will return to the story when challenges appear. Thank you 🙏

Hi Paul, thank you for suggesting your course to me. I started lesson 1 today and it made me tear up. A daily meditation practice has really helped me have a healthier relationship with anger. I used to lash out at people verbally when I would feel hurt. Giving myself a moment daily to quieten my thoughts and get to know myself allowed me to see that underneath the anger was a debilitating fear of being worthless and of being abandoned due to my worthlessness because I grew up with hardly any emotional validation, so I always had this feeling deep inside me that my existence was a mistake. The more I’ve been meditating, the more that anger has softened into lots of self-compassion and I find myself more and more being able to choose how to respond rather than react impulsively to feeling hurt. It is so incredibly liberating to live this way because I always used to feel like I’m at the mercy of this anger and would feel extreme shame for having lashed out once the anger subsided. So grateful to have come across your work on Insight Timer. Thank you for imparting your wisdom so generously. 🙏🏼

Great video on anger. I only wish I had seen it last night when I was triggered and got angry with a loved one. I will keep this for when it happens again. Namaste 🙏🏻✨💜

This video and message were timely as a personal family events affected me to fight an anger which was creeping in because of batteries broken. To reflect an anger as a protector, I am focusing on what is it that I’m protecting. This is a breakthrough.

Thank you, I needed to hear this today. I am with my sister to support her, her husband is in intensive care, severely ill. She verbally attacked me yesterday, totally out of the blue, would not calm down, would not stop. I knew it was because of all the sadness and pain she was going through but it hurt me so much! At first I was shocked but then I was hurt. I controlled my need to fight back but I couldn't get through to her she kept going with cruel eyes. I began to shake and raise my voice a little. I haven't felt like that in 20 years. I still feel awful. Family triggered old patterns. If I had remembered to breath and center myself it would have turned things around. Instead I just removed myself from the room and went for a walk. I don't know how I am going to get through these next couple of weeks. I will try to remember to breath.
