Hi my name is Natalie and I would like to guide you through a practice today that will help you to connect to and discover your sankalpa,
A heart's intention or a heart's vow that you can bring into your yoga nidra practices.
So it can be really useful to actually take some time to spend connecting to our sankalpa and we may have bigger sankalpas that we repeat often that we take with us through our life,
Or we may also have ones that are used for shorter periods as well.
Sankalpa is from the Sanskrit word san meaning connection with truth and kalpa that means vow.
So when we form a sankalpa,
It's like we're making a vow to our highest truth.
You might think of a Sankalpa as a seed that you plant in your consciousness.
Or like a beacon of guiding light to guide you through difficult times or times where clarity is needed.
If you are currently forming your sankalpa,
I will guide you through a values exercise that may shed a little bit of light onto the things that are important to you.
So you can take a moment We'll take a slow breath in.
Slow breath out.
And connect to the support beneath you connect to your physical body.
Know that if at any point you need more time,
You can pause,
Reflect more,
And write anything down begin to imagine that you had one more day left to live on this earth.
In this body.
And nobody else knew,
Only you knew.
How would you want to spend your very last day?
Who would you want to spend it with?
What would you want to do?
You And if and when you're ready to do so,
Begin to expand this idea.
But now imagine.
That you have one more year.
One more year to live on this earth in this body.
In this scenario,
You can tell others.
Who may you want to tell?
Notice who you may feel like you have to share it with from a place of obligation.
And who you may feel like you genuinely would want to share it with to feel connection and support.
What kind of things would you want to do with your time?
You can pause this track if you need more time to reflect.
Now we'll move on to one more reflection.
Take a moment to connect to your life,
Present,
As you've lived it so far.
And imagine that you only had a few moments left to reflect.
What in your life are you proud of?
What has gone right?
What memories do you have that may leave a small smile on your face in your last moments?
And what are some things that were left undone or unsaid?
If you had more time.
How would you use it?
When you feel ready,
You may begin to write or reflect on some of the themes that may have come up in each of the exercises,
Maybe some similarities.
Maybe some dots that connect.
You can take some of these reflections,
Some of these values and things that are important to you and transform them into sankalpas.
And there may be more than one that are formed for you.
And we create a sankalpa.
We create a positive statement,
Something that is spoken out as though it is already true.
For example,
If there was a feeling of not having had expressed enough love to others.
Then the sankalpa that we could transform this into would be.
.
.
I share my love with the world.
I share my love with others.
We say it as though it is already happening,
As though it is already true.
And then we plant that seed in our consciousness to grow.
So take your time,
Reflect.
Create your sankalpas.
And you can come back to this practice as many times as you need to.
May you find peace.
May you find rest.
And may you follow your heart's intention.
