Welcome to this meditation.
How's my body feeling today?
Our body can give us clues as to why we might be behaving a particular way or saying a particular thing.
Our body gives us clues as to how we're feeling.
Let's check in with our bodies now.
Find a comfortable position.
You can be standing,
Sitting or lying down.
And if you feel comfortable,
You can close your eyes.
Imagine that your attention is like a torchlight,
Shining a warm,
Golden,
Friendly beam of light around your body as we bring our kind and curious attention to our bodies and notice how we're feeling.
Bring the torchlight to the top of your head and let the light run over your face.
How is your face feeling?
Are your eyes still or are they moving?
How's your jaw?
Is it clenched?
Are you clenching your teeth?
Or is your jaw relaxed?
Notice how you're feeling around your shoulders.
Imagine that torchlight of friendly energy beaming its light onto your shoulders.
And how do they feel?
Are they feeling relaxed or tight and tense up by your ears?
Does one feel higher than the other?
Just notice with kindness and with curiosity how you're feeling.
Nothing is right or wrong.
It simply is the way it is right now.
Shine that warm,
Friendly torchlight down the back of your body,
From the top all the way down to the bottom.
And how's your back?
Tired,
Stiff,
Strong,
Relaxed?
Let shine that torchlight into your hands.
And feel that you're listening to your hands from the inside.
What do you notice about your hands?
Are they still or moving?
Does one hand feel bigger than the other hand?
Or warmer than the other hand?
Do your hands feel warm or cool?
Is there tingling,
Pulsing,
Pins and needle-y feelings?
And what about your arms?
How do they feel?
Do they feel fidgety,
Like they want to move?
Or do they feel happy to be still?
What about your chest?
Shine the torchlight into the centre of your chest.
And what do you notice here?
Perhaps as you breathe in you can feel a gentle rise of your chest.
And then notice as you breathe out your chest relaxes down again.
You might feel that rise.
And that relaxation.
And how do you feel in the chest?
Is there lightness or heaviness?
A sense of stillness and ease?
Or maybe there's a busy feeling or a tight feeling?
Or perhaps it's difficult to really know how your chest is feeling.
And that's okay too.
Bring your attention now to your tummy.
How's your tummy feeling?
Is it gurgling and swirling?
Knotted and tight?
Or soft and relaxed?
See if you can bring your breath down into your tummy.
It might help to put your hands and just rest your hands gently on your stomach.
And as you breathe in you can feel your hands rising up.
And as you breathe out your hands settling back down again.
Your tummy expanding up with the in-breath.
And relaxing back with the out-breath.
And if you've noticed any tightness,
Any tension,
Any uncomfortable feelings in the body.
You could practice taking your breath to that part of the body.
Breathing in some kindness to that part of the body.
And as you breathe out,
Relaxing any tightness,
Softening the edges of any knots.
And you can practice that for as long as you would like.
Breathing in kindness to a part of the body that feels uncomfortable or uneasy.
And breathing out bringing softness,
Relaxation or just a sense of being okay.
Let's continue our scan with our torchlight of our attention.
All the way down to your legs.
To the tops of your legs.
To the bottom halves.
To the bottom halves of the legs.
And to the feet.
What do you notice here?
Are the legs jittery?
Or still?
Light or heavy?
And how are the feet?
Can you listen in to your feet?
Perhaps give your toes a little wriggle.
And then let your toes be still.
What can you sense here?
Warmth or coolness?
Tingling?
Heaviness?
And whatever you find is perfectly okay.
And if there's any parts of the body that seem difficult to feel,
That's okay too.
When we listen in to our body,
We can find clues as to how we're acting and what our attitude is in that moment.
When our bodies feel energized and ready to move,
When our bodies feel energized and vibrant,
We perhaps feel more likely to take on new challenges,
To try new things.
Perhaps we feel more outgoing and friendly.
And at times when our bodies feel tired and heavy,
We might feel quiet,
Less likely to want to go and spend time with friends.
And maybe when our bodies feel uncomfortable,
Knotted,
Jittery,
We might feel unsure of ourselves and less likely to take on new challenges or try new things.
We might feel tired and therefore we just want to rest and our body is giving us the signal that it's time to rest.
Whenever you can,
See if you can take some time to just breathe in to your body and take your torchlight of curious and kind attention around your body and see how your body is feeling.
And perhaps there's something you can do to help your body feel good.
If you'd like to,
You could spend some more time now breathing in to any uncomfortable feelings and then breathing out tension.
Or if you're ready,
You can blink open your eyes and step back into the rest of your day.
Thank you for joining me.
